IR-6 GREEN CARD ?

At the time of my POE i was married to my wife more than 2 years and they sent me a Green card that was CR1 and was good for 2 years , Because i was married to USC more than 2 years i was supposed to get 10 years Card, so i sent the green card back to uscis with copies of my marriage certificate and i-90 to Replace the Residence Card with errors on it, After a month i received a Notice of Action I-797C to go for my biometrics appointment and after my biometrics were taken i received a green card with category IR6 and is good for 10 years expires in 2020.

and now on other hands i received a letter from uscis they want me to remove my conditions, as i entered in US on may 2010 and now after 2 years of being here i received letter they want me to remove my conditions before May 2012, which i dont understand is that

CR-1 becomes IR-1

but my Green card category is IR-6 and on another website i did read that the definitions of IR-6 means Parents of US Citizen,, Oh come on man , my wife is elder than me. and shes my wife not my daughter.

What is IR-6 ??????????????????

Haha. IR means Immediate Relative. Spouse, child, & parents fall in that category. That's the GC she's suppose to get. It's the code for the 10 yr GC as well. If she was a Conditional Resident it would have CR. She received the right card. Congrats.

Are you absolutely, 100% certain it says IR-6? Six? Because as far as I know, there is NO IR-6, just IR-1 to IR-5. IR-5 is for parents of US citizens. You should have gotten an IR-1. One, not six. IR-1 is for spouses of US citizens that have been married for 2 years or more.

If I were you, I'd make an InfoPass appointment at your nearest USCIS local office as you've got a problem on your hands. Also mention that you got a notice for ROC, when you shouldn't as you've been married more than two years and should have an IR-1 green card.

Did you not mention at the interview or POE to issue you an IR-1 since you were married more than two years?

IR-6 is similar to the IR-1 but it's from AOS, not entering on an immigrant visa. Which the OP was, he entered with a visa. He should have an IR-1, not IR-6, since he didn't adjust status from within the US.

There is an IR-6 status. I am IR-6. I'm the spouse of a US Citizen. The card is correct.

But it looks like you adjusted status, which is what the IR-6 is. If you looked at my later posts, I discovered there was indeed an IR-6.

Excellent response. IR-1 is for new arrival - spouse of US citizen married for at least 2 years upon arrival. IR-6 is those married 2 yrs or more who adjust from within the US.
