Round trip or one way?

We actually need a one way ticket, however after doing some pricing it will be over $100 cheaper if we buy a round trip ticket.

Can we do this? does it matter that we never used it the departure ticket, and only used the return

i dont know if u have to contact the airline about the return trip or just dont worry bout tellin um..lol

someone else might have the correct answer for you but i do know it doesnt matter which one you purchase..

I found out buying a round trip was much cheaper. We arrived on Monday free of any hassle. It does'nt matter if it is roundtrip or one way ticket that is bought.

Again I would contact the airline, I am not sure how they treat the return trip if you don't first use the the departing trip.

In your case I assume you are looking to purchase a ticket for your spouse you may want to just look at booking the ticket the other way, Jamaica as the departure and USA to Jamaica for return trip which wont be used.

Just a suggestion.

We came in on Delta . Delta was cheaper by far in comparison to Air J.

The way to book the tickets if you plan to fly back with your spouse is to book a round trip for you USA --> Jamaica for your self and a round trip for your spouse Jamaica --> USA making sure that your return flight is the same as your spouse's departing flight, and try to get seats next to each other. A few months ago I went on a trip with my brother in-law and for some reason we kept getting seats that were separate, we were able to get it fixed at the gate though.

Often if you are not on the outward portion of your flight the airline automatically cancels your reservation on the return. Make sure both of you travel on an outward ticket then ignore the return. I have found plenty of round trip tickets cheaper than one way (though not always, thanks to consolidators like kayak where certain bargain single fares have been found) but I make sure I'm on the initial flight in case I lose my seat for the next leg.
