Hey Everyone,

Just got my ASC Appointment Notice in the mail today and it's on Valentine's Day <_< ... Darrell had already taken that day off because we had plans, I guess our plans now include the Biometrics appointment !!! So I was wondering if anyone has any tips? Also since my appointment is at 11:00am do you think if we arrived early they might take us earlier...

I don't know about your specific office, but I arrived about an hour earlier to my appointment and they took me right away. Also, if your appointment/visa application are in your MARRIED name, and your passport/id are in your MAIDEN name, bring your marriage certificate!

Yes, my paper work is in my married name and passport and ID's are in my maiden, so I will be sure to bring my marriage cert! Thank You! Anything else I should bring? Also does this mean we won't have any RFEs?

That should be it. Appointment notice, marriage certificate, passport/ID. That's all I was asked for.

It doesn't mean that there are no RFEs. Your case is still being processed.

  • 2 weeks later...

So I had my Biometrics appt today... It went well and was very quick, I was in and out in about 10mins. The only thing is that I was told they had to send the information off in my maiden name instead of my married name... I find this odd because I did bring in my appt letter ( which was in my married name) and I also brought my marriage cert. He said that if I wanted my name changed I would have to take care of it during my interview. I then asked what if I don't have an interview? He said all AOS have interviews... I know Ralyse had this same issue and called USCIS and was told that as long as the paper work she sent off for AOS was in her married name and she included her Marriage Cert, her GC would come in her married name... Fingers crossed this is what happens! Another tip... If you have facial piercing, remember to remove them before going to your biometrics appt. no jewelry is allowed when they take your picture... ( I know duh, right?) I've had my nose pierced forever... So I hardly notice it anymore..... And I've never taken it out, so It was very difficult for me to remove it and my nose was super red from trying to get it out! Just a heads up to anyone else with a nose piercing... Take them out before you get there!

Case transferred - probably to CSC for faster processing. It's not always faster though but there's no interview that way. Otherwise it's transferred to a local office. You'll receive a notice in mail saying which office it's transferred to.

Edit: Taking piercings out? I find that odd though. I have multiple visible piercings and was never asked to take any of them out. I guess they do things differently at each center.

Ohh, I know the feeling! :D Glad it's over with though, and hope it doesn't look too bad on your picture.

The EAD(if it comes before greencard) will state the last name they're using. The transfer notice you receive in mail will most likely have your married name on there too.

When it's an error by USCIS they'll change the name on greencard, otherwise you'll have to change it by submitting a form and pay a fee.

So my EAD will be in my maiden name or married name?

Most likely married name when you filed AOS in married name. If it's in your maiden name, make an info-pass appointment and ask them to change it.
