One-way ticket or round-trip ticket?

I used delta over the phoen and it was cheaper than any of the flights online. Plus it was only one stop before she got here.

Keep in mind that you will not be using the return flight. You are just playing the game the airlines use in order to get as cheap of a ticket as possible. Should you opt for a RT, just remember to cancel the return leg before its scheduled departure otherwise there is a slight chance it will bite you should the airline sell the seat and not change the name. USCIS has accussed others of leaving the country and the burden of proof is always on you to prove USCIS wrong. There were a couple of threads on VJ about this issue.

There have been case where the return flight was not canceled and the airlines end up reporting to USCIS that you actually used the return flight. Then it looks like you left to soon and then later made an illegal entry back in to the US. Change or cancel the unused return don't just walk away from it.

This type of question has come up before. Even if you plan to go back for a visit in ,, oh,, say 1 year. Don't you still have the same problem then. You end up in the Philippines needing a one way to the USA.

If you can plan ahead look in to using airline miles. You can get credit cards that earn "points" or miles on most airlines. I used American Airlines. When you use airline miles they charge miles based on global regions not specific airports. So small airports like Salt Lake Fort Wayne, Nashville are the same as Los Angles. Manila to North America was 35,000 mile/points. Just applying for the Credit card and a few purchases will get you 25,000 mile/points. They also charge each direction separate so a one is is 1/2 the points of a round trip.

Air Berlin is 1/2 the price for a one-way sop we used that out of the UK. You really learn airlines and flight options at this time!

When my fiance' and I were shopping for plane tickets, it came out round-trip was cheaper than one-way, so I suggested that he get me a round-trip. It wasn't like I was planning to go back to the Philippines, it was all about price. But even to that fact, he still chose to buy me a one-way. If it made him more comfortable, then so be it

I was lucky one way was cheap but it aldepends what country you travel from and what route if buying a RT as it's cheaper make sure you cancel the return leg even if you get no money back

There was a time not long ago that some of the airlines were offereing a substantial one time discount to new immigrants flying for the first time to the USA, so that might be something worth looking into. You could ask about that if it would be a benefit to you.
