to plan or not to plan wedding date?

Hello my fellow VJ-ers... I am now planning towards an interview around the middle of the year for a K-1. I thought it would be a good idea to show proof that we are actually planning a wedding. I am thinking of going ahead and making reservations, etc. I am thinking it might be a good evidence of authenticity to show consulate officers we are serious. What do you think? :) Is there anything else you have done/shown that you would recommend?

It isn't suggested to make plans for the wedding just in case god forbid something goes wrong or the case takes longer than what you thought. My uncle had flown to Serbia to pick up his wife in Nov. 2010 and ended up staying till the end of January 2011 because they stringed her along for more and more evidence, luckily they only lost out on the changing of a plane ticket imagine God forbid how it would be if you lost a deposit or something (its not small change).

As has been mentioned on this forum numerous times before in response to similar inquiries:

Avoid making any definite wedding plans or reservations until you have the visa in your hand.

Good luck,

YMMV.

Make general plans only do not set an exact date or pay money as a deposit, wait till your visa is in hand. She told the IO our plan was to get married ASAP in Las Vegas, her response was that my wife was the only one she interview who had a general idea when and where she was getting married.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

You can go ahead and makes plans, get costs and other details, but dont book or pay for anything before you have the visa in hand. So you could show information you have collected/prices/location etc.

Is there something else you've done to show the officers that there were serious plans being made?

Plus planning a wedding doesn't absolutely show that you have a bonafide relationship. At the interview, they want to verify that you and your fiance really know each other, that you already met before, that you have an ongoing relationship... Try to think about what an officer wants to see to prove him that you and your fiance are in a "real" relationship.

Don't know if I'm explaining well my thinking. :P

I have to be honest here. I am not suggesting to go and buy a plane ticket or put a deposit down on anything for a specific date BUT my fiance is going to be buying a new suit for our wedding day and is going to wear it to the interview. :) Also, we have already picked out our wedding rings and my dresss. He is going to take pictures of those with him to the interview just in case they ask about what we have done to prepare for the wedding. :) Again though, we haven't set a firm date or any plans past what I described above. It just feels good to think about something other than the interview date and plan something together. Once we are able to set a firm date most of the prep will have already been done! That is the best part.
