Hello,

My foreign spouse's visa expires in Sep 2012. Does the passport need to be valid for atleast six months to receive the immigrant visa when he goes for his I-130 or K3 visa interview or to enter the US?

Where can I find the information on the passport validity requirements?

Please help. Thanks.

The first part of your post makes no sense unless you mean your spouse's passport expires in Sep 2012. Yes, the passport must be valid for at least six more months for a visa to be placed in it.

Sorry for the typo error. I meant his passport expires in Sep 2012 not visa.

Yes the passport need to have validity period of 6 months or more for the consulate to stamp visa.

Also once your spouse enters the temp GC or I551 would also be stamped in this same passport which would be valid for 1 year from the stamp.

Correct except these visas are not stamped in the passport. They are printed in a secure manner, like currency, with the visa holder's photo included and permanently affixed to a full page of the passport.
