I-751 February 2012 Filers

PS/ I haven't had much of a chance to look at the timelines of people who have already filed for and received their 10-year green card, so I was wondering how long does this whole process take? How long between filing and actually having that 10-year green card in your hand?

Also, as regards the biometrics appointment, is it possible to do a walk-in? I remember that it was when I was filing for AOS, and I would much prefer to do a walk-in than having to take time off work to go.

Finally, can someone advise me about naturalization?

I received my temporary green card on February 16th 2010. Am I right in assuming that I can apply for naturalization on or after November 19th?

I just got my appointment notice for the biometrics today ... I hope Ill get my NOA1 soon! to renew my licence!

USCIS says they'll get it done in 6 months, but it looks like it's been quite a bit longer than that at Vermont. It seems 7-9 months is more typical there right now. California has been faster by quite a bit if you look at some of the other months' threads (they'll show something like 80% of California filers approved and 0% of Vermont).

You are correct about the naturalization assuming you meet the residency/physical presence requirements and are still married. If your ROC isn't approved by then, you can still apply.

Thanks so much, Sciencenerd. Very helpful. It's weird to think that I will be able to apply for Naturalization even though I might not have received my green card by then.

Yeah, I just managed to find some timelines for ROC, and I was shocked at how slow the Vermont Service Center is. Wow! What on earth is the hold up? :-(

I had posted this in its own thread but I couldnt figure out a good title so it will probably never be answered

we had a rough couple of months with emergencies in our family, car broke down, etc. So I wasnt able to file my I-751 earlier than I did.

Then USPS also made mistakes and it finally arrived in California 4 days before my residence Card expired. By now it expired and so did my drivers licence. Pretty crappy but they got my papers on the 6th and I assumed "any day now Ill get my NOA1"

Today I got an appointment notice for the biometrics! in 10 days!

So I call USICS and got YELLED at that I should have filed it early and it will FOR SURE not get there in the next 2 weeks, it will take way longer than that ...

Is that true?

I mean you guys all seem to get it real fast, or am I wrong?

Im freaking out quite a bit cause my husband is working out of state until way after the Biometrics and the Interview is 3 hours away!

Does anyone know if you're able to renew your drivers license with your NOA1? Mine expires in April...and I highly doubt I'll have my 10 year by then.
