Saylin I have all they say is the case is in the building but until its not fully uploaded in their system they cant assign a case #.... patience is not fun lol!

Don't worry, the case number will be assigned this week. Just keep calling every day. Maybe even twice a day this week (once in the morning, and again later in the evening).

I would suggest sending in both, that way, you cover all bases. Make sure you include in the cover letter a little paragraph on her situation. And add a sticky note on each birth certificate explaining it as well since there's no guarantee they'll read the cover letter.

@Saylin,

I know you might have been asked this question 3 million times, but I would like a short answer from the expert: Should I send ORIGINAL documents to NVC, or certified copies is ok? I saw one person this morning post something about getting a message from NVC asking him/her for the ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE. What's the myth and what's the fact? Thanks!

Saylin , you remember last friday i told you i received a false RFE. They sent a Cover letter and asked me to mail it with the document they requested from me to the following Address :

National Visa Center

ATTN: DR

31 Rochester Avenue, Suite 100

Portsmouth, NH 03801-2914

What they requested as additional information was :

1) AOS

2) "fee payment" which has already been cleared yesterday and confirmed with NVC.

I also have a cover letter with a bar code that is available on the payment portal once the AOS fee was invoiced and i was gonna use it to mail the AOS document to NVC. As now we got this false RFE and they asking us to return the letter with the bar code sheet and The AOS document, can we give up on the one that is on the payment portal?

You can either send the original OR the certified copy. NVC is supposed to accept either. Don't forget to include a photocopy of each certificate as well. And to make it very clear to the reviewing officer, I'd suggest putting a sticky note on them, saying 'Original Birth Certificate for BENEFICIARY"S FULL NAME' or 'Certified Copy of BENEFICIARY"S FULL NAME's Birth Certificate', as well as 'Photocopy of Birth Certificate.

You can find civil document requirements here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html

Since it's a false checklist, you really don't need to include that bar-code. You can just use the one you printed from the payment portal.

Do we need to bring photocopies to the interview? Obviously we need the originals, but I'm thinking no on the copies because they have scanned copies from our original NVC EP, but just checking...

I had photocopies with me (just in case), but they just wanted the originals/certified copies since, like you said, they technically already have photocopies from our EP submissions.

thank you.

-Wait for your green card to arrive in the mail

-If you checked yes for a SSN to be issued, wait for this (if more than 3 weeks from POE, then go and apply in person at SSA office)

-Wait three years to apply for citizenship (optional)

So, lots of waiting laughing.gif

Good lord I hope I don't mess this up...

We're sending in the DS-3032 as a PDF (which I had to convert from a JPEG because the wife is having trouble scanning to PDF at home) with the case number in the subject line, and the usual block of contact information, birthdays and such in the body. I've also put the text from the "Email DS-3032" in the body of the email in case they don't like the PDF. It contains the same information as in the DS-3032 PDF.

Am I forgetting anything?

Trips:

Jan2010 - First Trip, met in person

Jul2010 - Trip two!

Nov2010 - Trip Three, Got engaged :)

Feb2011 - Trip Four. Spring Festival, Lucky Money all around :D

July2011 - Trip Six... Honeymoon in Xiamen :D

October2011 - Trip Seven... Beijing and the Great Wall :)

January2012 - Trip Eight... Chinese New Years and Spring Festival! More Lucky Money! :D

April2012 - Trip Nine... Interview?

Paper work for CR1:

30January2012 - NVC 'received' the paperwork

6February2012 - NVC GUZ case number assigned - Attempted to OPTIN to EP.

7February2012 - NVC GZO (EP) case number assigned
