**Marriage Certificate.

The document you submitted is not an original or certified copy of an original issued by the appropriate

government authority. The document must be an original, or a certified copy of the original, bearing the

original seal or stamp from the issuing authority.

==>I sent an original copy issued by the mayor with a stamp on it. What should I do?

I assume you got married in France: did you send a Copie Intégrale de l'Acte de Mariage or the Extrait d'Acte de Marriage ?

Paris embassy requests the Copie Intégrale at interview stage BUT the NVC wants an Extrait... If you read the DoS webpage about country documents, you'll see that's what they request, and since the reviewers go by this page, they could have rejected your Copie Intégrale. It sounds very silly, but it recently happened to Allegra with her husband's birth certificate, and she had it fixed by asking for a supervisor review of the document.

So if I were you, I would call NVC and request a supervisor review of the certificate, and at the same time make sure I get an Extrait, just in case they decide to be obnoxious. While you're at the City Hall, have a new Copie Intégrale done, you'll need it at the interview (has to be less than 3 months old at the time of the interview).

For future reference here's what I did and advise French filers to do: I sent BOTH a Copie Intégrale AND an Extrait of my birth and marriage certificates, and I placed post-it notes on them saying "Long version - As requested by Paris Embassy" and "Short version - as described on Department of State website". They got through without any problem.

I can't help you about the AOS questions, I really don't know much about it.

Hmm Saylin says this week, Danell says March 8. (Although if I hear this week then I will know the date on 8 March.)

So a Timmies to Saylin if I hear this week and poutine to Darnell if I hear next week.

And a raspberry to NVC if it's later than that.

I want a Timmies donut!! I haven't had one since I moved to the US :( Can I get a poutine too? It's been even longer and I've had a craving for it...

Got our case number today. woohoo waiting for the IIN

Call back and request the IIN! Make sure you ask for 'Invoice Identification Number' and not IIN. They don't know our acronyms laughing.gif If the operator refuses (it happens), just thank them, and call again.

If I am tracking my case correctly, it's in Vietnam right now. I am going to allow 1, 2 days pass then I'll call DOS and ask about the interview date--which has yet scheduled.

Good idea good.gif

Paying and sending IV package today...now what an reasonable turn around time for completion??? preparing to buy him ticket n get last min things for his arrival...

NO NO NO!!! Do NOT send the IV package until the bill appears as PAID in the payment portal. This will take a day or two to happen!!! I repeat, do NOT send the IV package yet!!

Ive been seeing lots of people with NOA2 of FEB16 get their case # and my NOA2 was FEB15 and I still havent gotten my case #...is this normal?

Yes, it's normal. Have you been calling an operator every day to see if your case number has been assigned? It'll be this week :)

I have an interesting question:

My wife was born in Saudi Arabia (she is an Egyptian national), but she has an original Egyptian birth certificate certified by the Egyptian government. From my understanding this should be acceptable for visa purposes since it is certified by the appropriate government authority (Egyptians have done it before). What is everyone's take on this? Should I submit the Saudi Birth Certificate?

I would suggest sending in both, that way, you cover all bases. Make sure you include in the cover letter a little paragraph on her situation. And add a sticky note on each birth certificate explaining it as well since there's no guarantee they'll read the cover letter.

Please let us know when you get your case# for tracking purposes. I've seen that it is taking about 2 weeks from your NOA2 for NVC to assign it. I'm NOA2 Feb21st so hopefully sometime mext week. I called last night and the operator said they had just received it from USCIS yesterday.

Thank you :) The problem is she cannot obtain a Saudi birth certificate, because the paper she received when she was born she gave to the Egyptian authorities to convert it to the original Egyptian birth certificate. She can't get a saudi one now because she does not live in Saudi and has no ties. I've seen other Egyptians in the same position just send in the Egyptian with no problems.

Not sure what to do and the NVC operators just read the website info :S

Oh, well, if she can't obtain a Saudi one, then just send in the Egyptian one as that's all she has. Still include a little paragraph on her situation in the cover letter. Hopefully there's no problems.

And yeah, operators tend to just read from NVC's website headbonk.gif

Yes that's all the NVC operators do... I think you should send a little explanation together with her Egyptian birth certificate. Just what you said right now about her not being able to obtain a new certificate from Saudi authorities.
