w00t... NVC says I'm now fully EP converted (or in reality, they converted me Thursday/Friday and not for the whole of the last two weeks) and will be sending out the DS-3032/AOS invoice. :)

Addendum: It may be wise in the future for people to immediately call when the payment portal gives the false "This case is in the process of termination." message. If it is true that is the indication that manual data entry is complete, the AOS/DS-3032 could be immediately generated so why wait to call?

That's good news. My fingers were getting stiff keeping them crossed all weekend.

As far as I know, it's not written anywhere in the instructions to do this. I, and other members, suggest it so in case it gets lost or misplaced, it can easily get re-attached to the case.

The member who got that checklist for missing name/case number probably just got an officer who was very picky that day. Some officers let things slide while others don't. It always depends on whose desk your case lands on.

I got a checklist for my wife's original birth certificate. I am positive I put it in (it's a smaller paper) that they may have overlooked or misunderstood to be a copy. I called them and told them that last Friday, so they are getting a supervisor to review it. Was that a good move by me? Could the supervisor over rule the officer and declare my case closed??

In the mean time I got my wife to send me another original birth certificate just in case.

Please adviseeeee

Yes, if you sent it in and got a supervisor to review it, that was a good move. They can overrule the reviewing officer and close your case.

Hi topic participants,

I checked if my case was completed at NVC (my IV packet has been delivered last week), and received a message that there are missing documents and they emailed a checklist in November.

I found in my email in November that I needed to pay an immigrant fee bill, and I paid this bill two months later in January online, but I did not mail any notification to NVC with cover letter responding to this missing document checklist.

Will the NVC figure it out that I paid the bill after they receive IV packet or what should I do?

Wait, let me make sure I understand your timeline.

-NVC sent a checklist in November saying to pay the IV bill

-The IV bill was paid in January

-The IV package was mailed in February

Is this correct? If so, then the AVR message about the checklist from November is very old. It just hasn't updated yet. No need to worry. Once they get to your IV package (which should be soon), they'll review it and, if no problems, accept it.

Have you sent your AOS package yet?

Thanks Saylin,

The timeline is correct (I am fulfilling a two-year home residence requirement after J1 visa, therefore I am delaying with this process).

I-864 and tax forms have been sent to NVC by my husband last summer.

Was it all right to pay the immigrant fee but not to mail the cover letter to NVC and explanation that I have paid (in response to their letter)?

Thanks

No, that checklist wasn't required to respond to as it was just paying a bill.

It happened to us! He had his name on the back of both photos! and not the case number...

an we got an RFE...

The logic of this process and who processes the documents is laughable and sickening!

And the journey begins!

Yes, if you sent it in and got a supervisor to review it, that was a good move. They can overrule the reviewing officer and close your case.

They missed our marriage certificate as well... and the Supervisor was quite stern and direct: send a new one!! I told her it would be the same exact document. She again said... "The reviewing officer said it was missing!" AAAGGGGGHHHHHHH

And the journey begins!
