Sounds like your lawyer is just slowing your case down (as is typical with most cases with a lawyer). Honestly, I'm sure you two can handle this on your own. All that's left is to wait for a case complete (unless you're missing documents, in which you just mail back what they request). Then you wait for an interview letter, have a medical done, and attend the interview. There's not much else the lawyer has to do at this point.

IMO, I'd say drop him, inform NVC of this change, and in return, you'll save money for the medical and the move to the US :)

When I review the tales of folksen with lawyers here on VJ - I've only read 1 account of things going fast at NVC BECAUSE of the lawyer. The rest of these reports? Folk complain here, cry, curse the God because their lawyer caused un-needed delays.

You can have it good, fast or cheap. Pick 2.

If only lawyers would adopt LingChe's process for 'superfast NVC processing' then a lot of this pain and silliness (from them) would disappear. I have no respect, what so ever, for lawyers who swim in the immigration pond.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

People, my wife requested an employment letter at her job since 2 weeks they had not sent it. Yesterday she received an email with the letter attached. The payroll administrator who sent the letter Scan it and send it to my wife email. Would NVC consider this letter? She ( my wife ) thought that the letter would be mailed to her house, that is what she has been told.

Ask them first specifically: "Has an interview date been assigned". If they say no, then continue and ask: "Has my case been shipped to the consulate in Vietnam". Those should be clear enough questions for the operator.

Okay. The NVC voice mail says the case was sent to the embassy. SIF was also experienced this morning. DOS also says the case was sent to the embassy. Still no appointment date. I am assuming the embassy will have to schedule it once it arrives. Hopefully soon.

I re submitted my IV payment bill yesterday so it is still "in process". As you guys now, there was a problem with my payment that was rejected. The IV package has already been sent to NVC friday and they received tuesday. They informed us that they will keep the package until we make ther payment. We hope that the status shows paid and that the reviewing start automatically today.

At least Minnesota has trees and stuff and nice cool weather. But if you drive across New Mexico, Texas, there's nothing! I once drove 2,000+ miles across the US in my old car without using the A/C in the middle of the summer.

Yeah, I've never been through New Mexico or Texas, but I can only imagine how boring that drive is! And no AC?! You're crazy :P

I wouldn't assume the weirdo DOS "visa specialists" can answer these questions really clearly

We happen to know someone who works for a branch of DOS, not at all the visas, but I told him how weird the operators had been on the phone, and he wasn't surprised at all

Yes, I tried wording the questions as clear as possible laughing.gif

I did rec'd it on the 23rd... I called n gave then both emails. And then email the letter for agent of choice based of sample email. But when do I pay?!

You'll pay the AOS bill once it gets invoiced. Just keep checking the payment portal. For the IV bill, it'll get invoiced once the DS-3032 has been accepted. So you should be able to pay the first bill (AOS) sometime early next week.

A quick question. How many passport photographs of the petitioner/beneficiary are to be sent to the NVC along with the DS-230 part I and II?

Two are needed of the beneficiary with the IV package. Remember, 2 inches by 2 inches. On the back, write the beneficiary's full name, birth date, and NVC case number.

Hey guys!

I was wondering when the package begins to be processed after arriving at NVC? My "dear" lawyer said he sent the package on Feb. 21 overnight then have arrived in the building of the NVC on February 22. Yesterday I called the NVC and the voice message says that a packet of information and instructions was sent on February 3. And I have to wait six weeks to receive this package and if I did not receive, I have to get in touch again. But this package does not arrive because as I mentioned before, I paid the fees and sent all the documentation. Now I do not know if my lawyer is telling me the truth that he sent my AOS and IV package.

How I figure out it?

:help:

Usually, it takes NVC about a week or two to review packages. You should start calling an OPERATOR at NVC, not the AVR, on Monday and asking if they've reviewed your packages yet. This will be the fastest way to know the up-to-date status of your case.

Yes, it's true. The operators won't know NVC has received your packages until they've started the review on them. Just keep calling every day and asking if they've reviewed your packages yet.

Okay. The NVC voice mail says the case was sent to the embassy. SIF was also experienced this morning. DOS also says the case was sent to the embassy. Still no appointment date. I am assuming the embassy will have to schedule it once it arrives. Hopefully soon.

Well, it seems to be true then that it was sent. Vietnam must be on the small list of consulates/embassies that schedule the interview and not NVC. Since your package has left NVC, you should stop calling NVC as they'll no longer be of help. Now, focus on DOS as they have access to the consulate/embassy database. They'll be the ones that know if your case has an interview date scheduled.

Exactly. I also think future advice really should be to just ask for a supervisor if there are any issues and only use the front level people for very basic information queries and nothing else.

foobaz, good to hear that yours is moving along.

My EP acceptance email came yesterday with the new GZO case #. In the same email, it says "We received the principal applicant's DS-3032 (Choice of Address and Agent) form designating an address and agent. Instructions for paying the immigrant visa application processing fee and all future

correspondence will be sent to the agent at the address selected on the DS-3032". Can I assume DS-3032 accepted, since it hasn't been rejected? I sent OPTIN with DS3032 attached in one email.

I am about to submit my AOS package via EP. Should both AOS Cover Sheet and Payment Receipt be included? The payment portal says to print AOS cover sheet unless EP, but Ryan suggested to ignore that and include it anyway.

Anything is possible. Back when I was at NVC, both payments were accepted the next day after paying them.

You only need to include the cover sheet. No need for the payment receipt. I did EP and just included the cover sheet for both packages.
