NVC Filers - February 2012

I haven't called DOS, yet. I thought I'd give them 1, 2 days for them to update my case in their system. But DHL does have a package out-bound for Vietnam today, the same day that the NVC operator told me it was shipped to Vietnam. I am excited, but nervous as the appointment date hasn't been set, however.

Remember, DOS sees whatever NVC does. No need to wait a day or two. I'd suggest calling them tomorrow and inquiring just to double check.

Ask them first specifically: "Has an interview date been assigned". If they say no, then continue and ask: "Has my case been shipped to the consulate in Vietnam". Those should be clear enough questions for the operator.

I would love to, but that would require moving to a bigger city where they teach immigration law. If they did in this tiny town in South Dakota that I live in, I might have considered taking it. But alas, I'm studying programming and web design laughing.gif

Nice. South Dakota? That shouldn't be any different from Canada, scenery- and environmental-wise, that is. Compared to Vietnam and Ohio, that's a different case.

Well, I came from Montreal, so I'm used to the big city scene. Here.. it's just a bunch of fields and cows >_< But besides that, yes, it's very similar to Canada, so no culture shock or anything, thank goodness. Coming from Vietnam though, that will be a culture shock.

I spent a good amount of time in Minnesooooota, so I understand the plain fields and cows. Hehehe...

Yeah, I just went to northern Minnesota (just a few hundred feet from Canada!) last weekend to visit friends. Six hour drive through forests and fields. Quite a boring drive laughing.gif

At least Minnesota has trees and stuff and nice cool weather. But if you drive across New Mexico, Texas, there's nothing! I once drove 2,000+ miles across the US in my old car without using the A/C in the middle of the summer.

I wouldn't assume the weirdo DOS "visa specialists" can answer these questions really clearly

We happen to know someone who works for a branch of DOS, not at all the visas, but I told him how weird the operators had been on the phone, and he wasn't surprised at all

Hey guys!

I was wondering when the package begins to be processed after arriving at NVC? My "dear" lawyer said he sent the package on Feb. 21 overnight then have arrived in the building of the NVC on February 22. Yesterday I called the NVC and the voice message says that a packet of information and instructions was sent on February 3. And I have to wait six weeks to receive this package and if I did not receive, I have to get in touch again. But this package does not arrive because as I mentioned before, I paid the fees and sent all the documentation. Now I do not know if my lawyer is telling me the truth that he sent my AOS and IV package.

How I figure out it?

One question: After receiving the case number, IIN, and all fees paid and appearing as paid, and bar codes generated, I have to wait for NVC to send me the package or I can send the AOS and IV Application directly to NVC?

Please go over all the links , review the content in post #1.

The weekend is coming up - perhaps you can make time to study all?

Then, once yer brain of full , check in with yer attorney again, reviewing 'what he did' , contrasting it with 'normal DIY procedures' that are listed in post #1.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
