My husband sent the IV pkg-DS 230 from Stockholm via DHL to NVC.

Feb 14 we receive an e-mail:

marriage certificate missing, 2 photographs do not have case number

He sent the marriage certificate. In Sweden all records are on one document. Birth certificate, Marriage Certificate, etc. From the Tax Agency.

He sent 2 photographs but neglected to print the case number on the back, he just put his name on them

I called the NVC and they said that they would look at the marriage certificate again. They cannot accept the photos without the case number and he must send two new photos.

Wow!

So off goes the same exact document form the tax agency with our marriage certificate and 2 new photos to NVC for Sweden...

Will this ever end?

Oh Gosh! I sent my docs today, luckily I wrote the name and nvc case number on the back in pencil not in ink because I wasn't sure if I was supposed to, although I read somewhere in a VJ forum that advised it.

Can we can track our cases on NVC/DOS website? Do they have something similar to that of USCIS? I noticed your signature has notes of when the IV was reviewed.

No, they don't have a website for case status! Too bad cause for them cause they would get less phone calls...

Just make sure the marriage certificate is exactly what they describe on Department of State website:

Marriage Certificates

Available. If the marriage took place after July 1, 1991, the marriage record can be obtained from the local tax office of the Swedish Tax Administration (Skatteforvaltningen), which covers the area of residence at the time of marriage. If the marriage took place before July 1, 1991, an extract from the marriage register (Utdrag Ur Aktenskapsbok) can be obtained from the parish office (Pastorsambetet) or (Personbevis) from the Tax Administration (Skatteforvaltningen).

If it's already what you sent, then tell them you want a supervisor to review the one they already got, cause it is the correct document.

It's not the end of the world. they are asking for goofy things. For example, in the directions it says that it is ok to photocopy your 1040s but I got a RFE cuz they want the transcripts... Then ask for it specifically in the first place! And here I thought i was going to get a RFE because I forgot to send a copy of my sponsor's passport page--nope, they don't care much about that!

Yeah that's stupid... You sent your W2s too? Because the affidavit of support form specifically gives you the option of sending the 1040s + W2s OR the tax transcripts.

That said, I'm sure you're not the only one it happened too, because it says all over the guides here on VJ that transcripts are the "preferred" evidence.

Oh, I just read another thread about someone who got an RFE for that. I didn't do that either but I e-mailed my parents just now telling them to write in on there when they get it. You should get the new photos ready now to send back if/when you do receive an RFE.

It is a combined holiday for all presidents that started out as a way to combine Lincoln's and Washington's birthday into one holiday.

Or on the other hand, it is just another in the very long list of government and bank holidays.

No wonder they rarely have to take vacation, practically every month has at least one holiday in it.

Not if it's in one of the official language of the country where you'll have your interview, normalement !

Oh ok then it is not gonna be a problem, it is in french and creole( both our language). The only thing now is that RFE. At NVC, if there is a RFE, they email you about it and give you the detaild? For uscis, they notify u on their web and advise you to wait the hard copy to see what it is about
