Matt pushbrk just replied to my post he said it is not gonna cause a problem because him and some members was in the same situation they just amend it once the spouse arrive the us which makes us happy

But PUSHBRK does say correct way is to do it Married filing jointly.

it is improper practice to file single and amend it once the spouse got to the us. Some of them did as us, even pushbrk.Do not panick everything will go smoothly

my wife sent IV package today and we will send AOS one next week, we are just waiting for our joint sponsor final information. I have no choice then to do everything possible on my side not to cause any delay. Wifey is 4 months pregnant and there will be a baby shoer for her in may which i do not want to miss at all. Her delivery is for July 24th

Yes it does sound scary, but I do not see the context of termination in our case because it has just been received and assigned a Case # yesterday. What could have possibly gone wrong in less than 24 hours for a termination to set in, I wonder. Could it be just a variant error message for a case that has not been fully entered into the system yet?

I would advise you to call NVC and try to get more information about it. Are you sure u have entered the case number and IIN correctly?

I just got off the phone with NVC. They said that I needn't worry because the case # was entered yesterday and all the systems have not been updated with that information yet.

Hopefully they are right.

My husband sent the IV pkg-DS 230 from Stockholm via DHL to NVC.

Feb 14 we receive an e-mail:

marriage certificate missing, 2 photographs do not have case number

He sent the marriage certificate. In Sweden all records are on one document. Birth certificate, Marriage Certificate, etc. From the Tax Agency.

He sent 2 photographs but neglected to print the case number on the back, he just put his name on them

I called the NVC and they said that they would look at the marriage certificate again. They cannot accept the photos without the case number and he must send two new photos.

Wow!

So off goes the same exact document form the tax agency with our marriage certificate and 2 new photos to NVC for Sweden...

Will this ever end?

It's not the end of the world. they are asking for goofy things. For example, in the directions it says that it is ok to photocopy your 1040s but I got a RFE cuz they want the transcripts... Then ask for it specifically in the first place! And here I thought i was going to get a RFE because I forgot to send a copy of my sponsor's passport page--nope, they don't care much about that!

I've been away from my computer all day, so I know these comments are from way back, but...

What is the Invoice # and Beneficiary # for?

Invoice number is to sign into the payment portal, and the beneficiary number is for people who are from countries eligible for electronic forms (like Canada) to fill those forms out.

For the benefit of anyone else who reads this thread later... Never file taxes as Single if you're married and trying to get a visa for your spouse. It looks terrible to the VO.

Regardless of whether it looks bad in the interview or not, it says all over the IRS website that married people cannot file as single! You are only eligible to file as "single" if you do not fit any of the other statuses; obviously, being married means you are eligible for other filing statuses (i.e. married filing jointly or separately). The only explicit exception that I have found on irs.gov is that if your spouse has been out of the country for 6 months (yes, we are all in this position), then you can maintain your "unmarried" status ONLY to remain eligible to file as "head of household." I realize this is confusing, but "unmarried" and "single" do NOT mean the same thing here...to file as head of household, you have to meet other additional requirements like having a dependent. Married people are not eligible to file as single unless they are legally separated (as in, being in divorce proceedings, not separated by a border). I've been in several discussions about this on the forums, and no one has been able to show me any evidence that suggests that married people can file as single.

Sorry, this issue really frustrates me because people aren't backing up their claims with any proof! *calming breath*
