Just got off the phone with NVC again. They were telling me I'd have to wait for them to generate and send me the DS-3032 (presumably by mail). As I understand things it isn't necessary to wait, is my understanding correct?

I don't know anything about EP, but you definitely don't have to wait for them to contact you first before you send the choice of agent email. As soon as you have your case number, you can get in touch.

You got your IIN too?

Yes, the last message the AVR updates to is that the package was sent on DATE to the embassy in COUNTRY. Have you called an operator yet to ask? At both NVC and DOS?

So for the AOS, I sent in last 3 years (10, 09, 08) of my tax returns, and the same three years of those transcripts. That's too much right?

reg.ula.tion.me.ooow.2011 // tomcat.fight

to do list:
file i-130, petition for alien relative
get immigrant visa
get ssn card and green card
get employment authorization - not required
file I-751, petition to remove the conditions of residence (before 2nd year expires upon entry)
become a US citizen

Thank you Visajourney!

Yes. When sending tax information, it's:

EITHER

1040s, W2s, and any other schedules

OR

tax transcripts

Thankfully, you sent the tax transcripts, because if you had just sent in your tax returns, you would have gotten a checklist as W2s (and other schedules, if applicable) were not sent.

Most likely, the reviewing officer will just ignore the tax returns and look at the tax transcripts only.

No, it doesn't actually have anything to do with DS3032, most of January filers were able to get it on the day the case number was assigned. You have to ask the operator for your invoice ID number. Did they tell you they didn't have it yet?

If the operator can give you a case number, then they should also be able to give you a IIN and BIN (beneficiary identification number). Call again and ask for both. The IIN lets you sign into the payment portal and do the DS-260 (if you decide on EP). And if you do EP, you need the BIN to do your DS-261 which replaces the DS-3032, assuming that electronic processing is the same for Canada and China.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Remember EP and online forms are TWO different things!!

China is eligible for EP (sending packages by email) but are NOT eligible for online forms.

So in their case, a BIN is useless as they CANNOT file a DS-260.

Oh, sorry! I just assumed electronic processing meant the whole thing, online forms and email submission. Seems dumb to basically implement electronic processing halfway...if they have to mail the forms, the whole process will take just as long as mailing the forms and evidence.

Welcome to the United States government. Over behind this door is where we keep the $3000 hammers. :D

Yeah, it is dumb. I'm still amazed that in 2012 the entire process isn't online and that even sending the forms to NVC is still considered a 'pilot program'.

Thankfully we don't have to mail the forms to NVC and they don't get sent from NVC to GUZ as paper either. In short, we're doing a full electronic process but not with online forms. Just using PDFs and the like.

As fast as this thread is updating, I almost think an IRC chat room is in order... :D

Nope, electronic processing means just emailing the packages (AOS and IV), and the online forms (DS-261 and DS-260) are something else. Thankfully, Canada is eligible for both.

Their plan is to test out the two processes on a few countries, and slowly introduce it to other countries on the successful implementation. When I first was learning about EP, online forms didn't even exist. And EP was only around for Canada and China. Now looking at the list here (bottom of page): http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_5165.html many more countries are eligible for EP and/or online forms. I'm sure it will still be a few years, but EP and online forms will one day be mandatory for everyone. It's just a very slow process.

Although your two NVC packages aren't sent to GUZ as papers, your I-130 documents still need to be mailed to them.
