Remember, he's not getting a green card, he's getting a visa. He only gets the green card in the mail after going through POE.

Right right, but the visa acts as a green card for up to a year once you've entered, yeah? Anyway, you know what I mean.

One of my friends works with a woman who immigrated (or the husband immigrated? don't know) from Nigeria, and he said they asked them what color underwear the wife wears. #######, way to be seriously creepy, CO. "Umm...lots? She doesn't just own one pair..."

Can't say I'm particularly worried. But every time I say something like "after March 13, when Max has his green card, blah blah," I hope I'm not jinxing us...I can be rather superstitious.

In some cultures the spouses don't get undressed in front of each other, so they don't see the other one's underwear. Does that make the marriage less legit?? :bonk: :bonk:

I don't say "when I'm in the US", EVER. It brings bad luck, knock on wood! Seriously, I don't let anyone make plans for the "after". Hubby's family wants to have a big party but I don't want anything planned before it's over.

Nope, it's the stamp he'll get in the passport at the POE that acts as a temp green card.

Okay, but when I talk to friends and family, it's a green card. :P I also refer to USCIS, NVC, and the consulate as "step 1, step 2, and step 3."

Damned right. Win the war. Lick your wounds and recover... THEN party. :D

And yes, obviously if you don't know whatever bit of esoterica the VO has decided you should know then clearly your marriage is based on nothing but a desire to get a visa.

It only acts as a green card with a stamp from POE next to it. Otherwise, it's just a visa.

But yes, I know what you mean ;)

If your wife has filed her 2011 tax return and gotten the tax transcript already, then send the 2009, 2010, and 2011 tax transcripts.
