People i probably made a mistake. Why i was browsing the Department of STate webiste i realize that the NVC case number start with the 3 letter of the city in which the embassy is located. Yesterday while they were given me my case number, i heard the lady said PPP+ the digits which i was using to sign the portal. I just realize the 3 letter is PTP ( Port au Prince ) the city where the interview will take place in Haiti. So i signed now with PTP here is the message i got now, it is different from what i was having yesterday. I am quite sure that i got the right code now

Well, US taxes are due April 17th, so anytime after that, then technically, they're legally able to ask them of you. And if your interview is before April 17th, they may still ask you (don't know how China is), and if you don't provide what they ask for, then they'll most likely put you in AP.

Maybe if he gets an extension for submitting his taxes they'll let him slide with a copy of the extension approval/application and a W2? Total speculation.

One does not take chances with GUZ. :(

I fully expect them to start asking for 2011 tax returns on April 16th. (17th over there)

That said, there is very little chance we could get ours filed and back before then. Since we're going to have to go with a fully paper process. As I haven't filed a paper return in nearly 15 years, I completely forgot that the wife would have to sign the 1040 and W7. So, if we file before she gets here we'll have to mail all kinds of things back and forth.

What we're thinking of doing is filing for an extension, and then filling out the paper return for the interview and actually filing when we get here and she has an SSN.

A nice thought... but this is GUZ we're speaking of.

GUZ does not issue visas. One meets them on the field of battle and soundly defeats them. Only after driving their forces from the field and storming the castle may you finally capture the visa. Then you must fight your way back out.

Yeah, the first three letters are the embassy/consulate code. Now that you've got the correct letters, you'll be fine.

And yes, that's the message that everyone gets. Again, don't worry, everyone sees this message. This is normal. Once the AOS is invoiced, then you'll be able to sign in.

Maybe if he gets an extension for submitting his taxes they'll let him slide with a copy of the extension approval/application and a W2? Total speculation.

Extensions would probably work, but this would of course depend on the country and the CO.

Depending when you file, it doesn't take real long to receive the refund. Looking at my old blog posts, it was less than a month from filing the return (by mail) and receiving the refund. And that was applying for an ITIN too. And then the transcripts took just a week to receive. If you can file by the end of the month, then you should have it in time by the interview.

It shouldn't affect it at all. But again, you JUST got your case number. Patience is key here.

The trick is that we have to mail stuff from here to China.. and get some paperwork there.. and then mail it all back to here. That said, we might go ahead and try it and hope the paperwork moves around in time. Failing that, we could simply use the 1040+W7+W2, no?

Oh yeah, I didn't take into account for all that mailing. Thankfully, my husband came to visit me and we did the tax return stuff and I gave him my documents for the W7.

But, yes, they should accept the 1040, W2s, and such. But again, I don't know how strict China is. I'm sure someone has asked this question before in the regional sub-forum. I'd suggest searching for this.

Yes I did. We both received 2 emails today from NVC. One contained the DS-3032 form, so maybe they'll accept it now, and one said that the AOS bill had been invoiced.

Well, that explains why you both got an email laughing.gif And yes, now that they've emailed you the initial information package, that's the indication that they're ready for document intake.
