Filed: IR-1/CR-1 Visa Country: China
Timeline

27-Jan-12 Received NVC Case Number. 10 days after NOA2.

31-Jan-12 Received DS-3032 and AOS Fee. Paid AOS Fee and sent DS-3032 by email.

1-Feb-12 DS-3032 approved.

2-Feb-12 Received Immigrant Visa Fee. Paid IV Fee.

4-Feb-12 Sent I-864 AOS and DS-230 IV.

6-Feb-12 USPS delivered and signed.

8-Feb-12 NVC Case complete. 12 days after NVC received case.

If mine goes the same way, I should get the AOS invoice today (I hope). The main difference is that I shot them the DS-3032 as soon as I had the case number, they seemed to accept it practically immediately, then we switched to the EP process (for China) and got our new case number. I was able to get them to cough up the IIN yesterday. Nothing new today so far.

I have most of the docs prepared since July and the payment was easy. I think my longest wait was the DS-3032 acceptance, it took about 3 days for them to reply to my email (which was still fast nonetheless :D)

Thanks. Case completed on 8 Feb.

What's DOS?

Thanks for the date. You've officially moved from the "Do not have case complete's" to the ones that do :)

And if you had sent in your DS-3032 a couple days earlier, you might have gotten a faster CC ;) Although, you made it through NVC in 12 days, just one day short of the fastest record (11 days).

DOS = Department of State. It's another source I'd recommend calling as they'll know of the interview date as well. They're also the ones to call if you ever get into AP/AR after an interview. They'd also know if/when your visa is issued.

This is a silly question but i'm gonna ask anyway. Do you think if I called NVC and requested to have my interview during a certain time frame like sayyy between May 7th- May 25th they would take it serious? Like is this even possible?? Just wondering.

Nope. NVC schedules interviews according to the schedule that each embassy/consulate gives them. They then fill the slots in the order of the cases in the queue.

After you get your date, you can always try contacting your embassy/consulate and requesting an interview change to that range, but it might not be granted.

So, I e-mailed the DS-3032 the same day I got my case number and I just got this response:

"We are unable to add third party contact information to the case record at this time. Please continue to notify the NVC of any change in the petitioner's or principal applicant's address."

Err...does that mean I sent it to early? When should I resend it?

It means it got sent too early. This happens every now and then. I'd suggest re-sending it again asap and hopefully, by the time they get around to that email, they've finished inputting your case and are ready for document intake.

Because they probably haven't gotten to your email yet. Please keep in mind, there are THOUSANDS of people going through NVC right now. And if each one sends an email, then NVC has to deal with THOUSANDS of emails.

Please, just remain patient and keep checking your inbox (and junk) folder in your email. And keep checking the payment portal as well.

Have you called up NVC and asked for the AOS to be invoiced?

Multiple times. They just keep saying that it may take up to 10 days and will go out any day now. One lady actually told me it would be up to 6 weeks. I had to suppress both a shudder and laugh on that one.

I'm not sure what else to ask them about it. I admit I'm already getting tired of hearing 'We just received this case Monday' or some form of it. As if I'm not keenly aware of it.

I'm not being unreasonable am I? It is normal to expect it to have been invoiced by this juncture, no?

Don't be negative. Start thinking positively. When they get to your email, it's very possible for them to have finished inputting your case and are ready for document intake from you.

Yeah, I remember hating hearing they're timelines. I just ignored them, and continued calling every day.

As for being reasonable, keep in mind, you JUST got your case number like two days ago. It does take time for them to invoice bills.

All I can say is to keep signing into the payment portal every few hours.
