I have a question about the extra documents for the I-864...

I'm including my official tax transcripts, and I had planned to include letters from my employers as well.

The thing is, I have three part-time jobs (through choice, not extreme hardship), and only one pays a salary, the rest are hourly wages. Therefore, only one of my employers can actually say how much I earn per year with any kind of certainty. In fact, one of my employers was unwilling to write any information about my earnings in the letter, and instead included a link to an external employment verification website that the company uses (theworknumber.com), saying that they can contact me for a PIN with which they can view my earnings information on the website.

I'm pretty sure nobody at NVC is going to visit that website. But my worry is that including a letter like this might actually be worse than not sending employment letters at all... maybe it would trigger an RFE. Do you guys have any thoughts on when it's useful to include employment letters, and when it's unnecessary?

Also, I have my 2011 intended tax return, but I haven't filed it yet because we're waiting in the ITIN. I assume I can't include this with the I-864 packet... but is it worthwhile to bring it to the interview?

I'll answer your employment letter question if you answer one of my first: what was your total income for 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and how much are you making now?

And yes, if you haven't filed for 2011 yet, don't include any of those documents. If at all possible, file soon, so you have enough time to get a 2011 tax transcript in time for the interview.

Well, you've consistently been making more money each year, so that's good. I think in your case, it's alright to not hand in an employment letter. Do you have a pay stub from each job that you can send in instead? This is also another good proof of current income (but it's optional as well).

And my husband was in a similar situation. He was a college student as well. I included a short paragraph on the cover letter explaining this. Whether or not the reviewing officer read it, I don't know. But it made me feel better

Thank you for your help! I'm sure a lot of these little questions probably seem silly, but it's easy to get worked up over a process that seemingly can take a few extra months if you dot an i wrong.

Eight days since NOA2, but NVC doesn't have a case number yet. My husband has been calling them every single day! How much longer?

FYI folks....

8:03 AM ET: Power Outage in NVC, the Rep couldn't access with no ETR. Coincidentally the web portal gave me an error message when trying to verify my payment:

"Database Error

You have encountered the database error. Please try again later."

Ive been getting that database error since yesterday but the rep that I spoke with told me the online system should be working fine....so i dont know....

Yeah, there was a ridiculous blizzard that hit the US this week, so outages should be expected. I'm sure they have back-up generators though and should be up and running in a few hours.

Website is back up and running. Portsmouth, NH is slammed with Snow. these are the only moments that I'm glad I live in Denver.

Yeah the error is back. it cleared for couple minutes when I was able to check the status of my IV Fees.

Portsmouth is not "slammed" with snow...there is snow but it's not that bad. They are closed though.
