I believe I've found the form in question. Is it the one that just asks for the case number, visa category, names and what not? It doesn't even look like a form. Is the wife just supposed to print this thing and write the bits of information to the right of the lines?

Also, I nuked more link spam from the EP wiki page. I really hate those people.

Just to be clear, you put the police certificate in the IV package right, not the AOS package?

False checklists are ONLY for entire packages. Something specific like a police certificate is NOT a false checklist.

Hola Saylin, yes i sent it with th IV package! So do you think they really lost it? :(

Where and where would you get this checklist..

AOS Master package sent off....

Grats. Hopefully it doesn't get lost in the NVC blackhole.

Don't forget to update your signature!

Will I receive an email once NVC approves the I-864?

Nope. You have to be calling NVC every day to find out updates on your case.

Do I need to include in the IV package, copies of the civil documents (Marriage certificate, Birth certificate, Police certificate) translated into english?

Thanks.

On NVC's site (http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html ), it states:

All documents notwritten in English, or in the official language of the country in whichapplication for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certifiedtranslations and submitted to the NVC. The translation must include a statementsigned by the translator stating that the:

-Translation isaccurate, and

-Translator is competentto translate.

Despite the above, I always recommend translating documents to English. I have seen people get a checklist for no translations.

I agree!

According to these instructions, Japanese documents do not need to be translated into English because my wife will interview in Tokyo. But the Tokyo Embassy specifically requests translations for Japanese documents, contradicting the instructions from NVC.

You can never be too careful! It's better to over-prepare and over-submit to avoid RFEs and hassles.

I'd say starting on Monday, start calling NVC every single day and asking if your packages are under review.

A CC has lately been taking a week or two once NVC receives the packages.

Hey everyone, just created the March thread for NVC filers: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/354975-nvc-filers-march-2012/

By the way, I took foobaz's suggestion and created a very thorough (in my opinion) FAQ! I expect it will answer a LOT of commonly asked questions on the NVC process.

Please head on over there for the upcoming month :)

I have a question about the extra documents for the I-864...

I'm including my official tax transcripts, and I had planned to include letters from my employers as well.

The thing is, I have three part-time jobs (through choice, not extreme hardship), and only one pays a salary, the rest are hourly wages. Therefore, only one of my employers can actually say how much I earn per year with any kind of certainty. In fact, one of my employers was unwilling to write any information about my earnings in the letter, and instead included a link to an external employment verification website that the company uses (theworknumber.com), saying that they can contact me for a PIN with which they can view my earnings information on the website.

I'm pretty sure nobody at NVC is going to visit that website. But my worry is that including a letter like this might actually be worse than not sending employment letters at all... maybe it would trigger an RFE. Do you guys have any thoughts on when it's useful to include employment letters, and when it's unnecessary?

Also, I have my 2011 intended tax return, but I haven't filed it yet because we're waiting in the ITIN. I assume I can't include this with the I-864 packet... but is it worthwhile to bring it to the interview?

Thanks!
