Just curious, does that "passport application status" check website actually work for anybody?

Just curious, does that "passport application status" check website actually work for anybody?

For me, it doesn't

Well, it worked for me but the thing is that I went to check just 5 days before i actually received the passport, so you probably have to wait a little bit more until it shows you any update.

hm - on the website it says "may take 7-10 days....." it's been 11 days for me now.

Also says "if there's more than one record for you in the database, it won't work....", so I am thinking (because I applied for passport book and passport card) this will be the case for me: two records in the database, hence no tracking on their website.

oh, well - playing the waiting game just a little longer....................................................

I'm gonna be sooooooo happy when this whole thing is done and over with!

karin_brenig - Its the same case with me. I applied 19 days ago and website shows no status for me. Can't call them as they ask you to wait for 4-weeks. Patience is the game.

ok - two weeks after I applied the website shows that I applied  fine.

They send your passport, the card, and your CoN in 3 seperate envelops - because 2% of all mail sent gets lost in transit.

If they sent all three items in one envelop and that would get lost - it would be detrimental!

The way they do it (in 3 seperate mailings) your chances of at least one of your vital, irreplaceable documents making it through the postal system are about 67% higher.

I've been checking the passport tracking but nothing shows up. Tomorrow makes it two weeks so maybe something magical will happen then...

How fast is expedited processing?

Check what the Department of State site says about processing times. here the link:

Pasport Procesing Times

ROUTINE SERVICE

As of ( Tuesday March 20, 2012 ), we are processing routine applications in approximately 4-6 weeks from the time of application.

EXPEDITED SERVICE

As of ( Tuesday March 20, 2012 ), we are processing requests for expedited service in about 2-3 weeks door-to-door, when overnight delivery is requested and paid for both ways (to and from the passport agency).

However, I read that some people that applied for Expedite received the passport within 2 to 5 days.
