I included my husband son in the application K1 Fiance as a follow to join. I read what I need to do next. My question is; how long does it take for them to give the child an interview after all the paperwork is given? Does the case passed through NVC or since is a follow to join or straight to the embassy? Can anyone that did this especially from DR comment on this. Thanks

Although I cannot comment specifically about DR, but the K2 has one year after his father was issued his visa to appear at the embassy for his interview. His paperwork should have been included with his fathers when the 129 was originally filed and should be at the embassy. The NVC is no longer in the picture. Now the child needs to contact the embassy and request an interview date. The date is determined by the embassy. Usually about a month or two later. He completes all the necessary paperwork in packet 3, like his father, receives packet 4 with his date and then goes for his interview to get his visa. I do not know the age of this child but make sure he enters before he turns 21. Interviews for K2 are not nearly as bad as the K1.

It's been my experience that most embassy's will not give a date until they have received back the paper(s) that are requesting, since some people get right on it and others are tardy. Then they give enough time to send the packet, for you to "get it together" and depending how many are ahead of you, about a month or so later... Interview !
