VISA APPROVED...BUT WRONG PASSPORT NUMBER ON VISA!

Dear members,

The wife recently recieved her visa. Stamped in her passport. However; upon closer inspection...the embassy in Lima, Peru added an extra number to her passport number on her visa page (in passport)!

What a headache! Well, we contacted the embassy, via email. We had a response within 15 minutes. They said bring it to the window (#14) and they will take care of it. They also apologized for their error. I responded to their email if we would be able to walk out the embassy with the corrected visa in hand...or would we have to wait for DHL.

I am still waiting for reply.

Patience and a good temper are necessary in many things. It is definitely so in IV cases.

Wow..This is good information to know to verify the Lima office does it correctly. Could you imagine the problems you would have if you didn'y see it and tried to do the POE?

4/21/12 - POE at Atlanta. No problems or issues!!!!

5/15/12 - Dr. Sara received her Green Card in the mail
5/21/12 - Dr. Sara got her Social Security Card in the mail
6/21/12 - Dr. Sara got her Michigan Drivers License (watch out!)

4/21/13 - Dr. Sara 1st year anniversary in the USA!

Removal of Conditions

1/30/14 - Submitted I-751 Removal Of Conditions

2/18/14 - NOA I-797, I-751 Receipt Notice - Extended Conditional Residence 1 Year :-)

3/19/14 - Biometrics appointment

12/16/14 - 10 year Permanent Resident Green Card approved and received!!

Citizenship

5/4/15 - Submitted N-400 Application for Citizenship

5/6/15 - NOA for Priority Date of May 06, 2015

5/20/15 - Received NOA for Biometrics appointment

6/1/15 - Biometrics appointment

12/9/15 - Naturalization Interview - Passed!

12/15/15 - Citizenship Ceremony & Oath

Yeah!!! Glad we caught it in time. They added an extra 4 to the passport number. Her passport has 7 numbers....not 8!!!

Please inspect your visas/passports....to err is human!!!! :o

The embassy has said we would have to leave passport and come back to embassy in 1 or 2 days to pick up at embassy.

If my wife leaves her passport with the embassy; how will she be able to enter again to pick it up? I thought you needed a passport to enter the embassy??

Maybe you'll have to pick it up from DHL?

An update:

The wife returned from Iquitos to Lima. She went to US embassy.... dropped off the incorrect visa and packet on 13 Feb. Corrected visa is ready to be picked up tomorrow at the Embassy! :dance:

No more problems please!

I have similar problem also we just received visa but case number has 2 extra numbers and the passport number has one extra number. So she will have to go back to embassy in manilla to have this fixed?
