I haven't seen any evidence that the Democrats knew about this scandal but there IS evidence that the GOP leadership did. Of course nothing will actually happen to THEM; nothing ever does. I'm so sick of the Republicans I could puke.

I haven't seen any evidence that the GOP leadership had anything but the most benign emails. The really serious ones were held back for the assualt by the Dems and the media. What is certain is that the Dems and media had the emails and IM's for a long time and held them up for their own reasons.

The American people are getting sick of the Dems and their tactics. The polls show that. Thats why the Dems are doing these dirty tricks now. They can't win with their ideas. Thats because they don't have any. The Republicans are going to hold onto the House and Senate. In two years another Republican will be in the white house. Wait and see.

I don't agree with blaming Hastert though. I've read that he had no knowledge of this.

I don't know the laws about emails and IM's of an explicit nature to minors. If it's illegal then Foley should pay the price for it. Please don't get me wrong. What Foley did was at best sleazy and at worst criminal. He did the right thing for resigning. If it is found to be illegal then he should be tried and punished for it. There is no defense for his actions.

I disagree that the Republicans will hold onto both houses AND the White House. I just don't see it happening after all the lying and cheating.

Yes, I agree that both parties have disappointed the American people. Hopefully, now the self righteous rhetoric and chest thumping will go quiet and we can get back to discussing issues on their own merit.

Before THAT happens:

• India's population will drop to 350 million of which 95% will be nominal Christian
  
• Burma and Bangladesh will rejoin India as ONE country
  
• UK will give the Falklands/Malvinas unilaterally to Chile
  

(feel free to add any other absolutely impossible actions to this list).

Solicitation of a Minor, even thru email or IM's is still a crime of intent. whether he followed tru withit or not.. that is still up in the air.

It doesn't really matter whether or the Democrats were using this as an election ploy anyway -- though it would be despicable if they did (and I am reserving judgement until I see solid evidence. THe irony is that the Republicans DID and if they had handled the issue appropriately at the time, I doubt too many people would even remember it.
