Approved!! It was FAST. My appointment was at 1PM and we were out of there by 2PM.

Everything was smooth except they had difficulties taking my fingerprints.

The consular officer asked me the ONE question I didn't know the answer to: how much does your husband make? :bonk: I gave a guesstimate and it wasn't too wrong.

Besides that, some simple questions which didn't always make sense (like how's your husband's brother's girlfriend?, after I mentioned she came to our wedding... what do you mean how is she?? Who cares right now??)

I'll make a full review when I get back home tomorrow!

So happy for y'all.... CONGRATS!!!!!!!

Embassies have different ways of getting your passport back to you after the interview. The DHL page is Montreal specific, which is why I suggested looking at reviews for your specific embassy.

cool, thanks alizon. i think our embassy likes the prepaid envelope method. i'm still stressing about 2011 tax returns. reading a past review has got me concerned because apparently several people have been rejected for not having the 2011 returns yet??!! How can that be? They are not even due yet! I can't file until July (I will need an extension) because I've only earned income in Australia for 2011 and my income is captured on my group certificate (equivalent to a W-2) which comes out at the end of the financial year at the end of June... my sponsor hasn't filed her's either, but I did send a copy of her 2011 W-2 to the NVC with the rest of the evidence. My husband and I are trying to figure out how concerned we should be about this given that the NVC has not indicated that we should bring the 2011 tax return.

have you looked at the embassy specific requirements on the government website? Here is the link chose your embassy from the first three letters of your case number. This will advise you of anything specific for your embassy. (For example under Montreal is specifically states about registering with DHL.) Then come back here or to your country specific forum with any other questions.

Thanks for that, now I see where a lot of people are getting their information from. Sydney's page, however, has very little on it. Other than recommending to bring a prepaid envelope, it has absolutely no other information in it.

Your envelope has to be a prepaid 3kg platinum express bag. I had Josh's 2011 tax with me (it wasn't submitted with our AOS) but they didn't ask for it. i too have read of others being asked to send it in and i wonder if you are close to the required amount on your last few tax returns if they want to see this years to make sure you will earn enough this year? Know what i mean? Josh earns way more than necessary and has done for several years so I figured thats why they didn't need it?????

Don't have time yet to read everything but I wanted to tell you a few things:

I WAS asked for additional financial information for my husband, it's like they didn't even read the evidence we sent with AOS package to the NVC <_< They took the 2011 tax return, new letter of employment, and latest pay stub.

They did NOT take my pictures when they realized they were the same as the ones I sent to the NVC: actually they even gave me one back (weird? They only have one left now). I wish I knew before cause I paid 9€ per US sized photo!

One thing I left out of my review in order not to frighten newbies :content: was the anxiety... I know our journey has been incredibly smooth and fast so far, but I worried so much that the last few months were really hard on me. My husband realized I was losing it

The morning of the interview, I was sick to my stomach, it felt like my Fate was gonna be decided and I was completely overwhelmed. Now that the pressure has dropped, I feel sooo much better! It was worth it, but man, I don't ever wanna be in this situation again!

As March is fading I wish good luck to the April applicants, try to take it easy if you can!

I don't think anyone can help the anxiety/stress over this process. I've been trying to get all my paperwork ready this evening and it is all rather over whelming. Add to that a very sick kitty and a sad son because he is not moving with us and I shall be glad when it is all over. On the other hand, the part of me that is not over whelmed is very excited about it all. (And I took all the bad weather for you last week so that you have nothing but sunshine when you get to San Diego.)
