Thank you for that. Do you know where I can get a list of M-1 schools in U.S. Vocational schools, kinda confused about that because I know for an F-1 you have to have 22,000 in your acct. not sure about M-1. What's the difference between the F-1 and M-1? Does it depend on the program or amount of hours you take, not sure of examples of vocational programs that fall into the M-1 category. Because there are some vocational schools that have associates and master's programs as well.

Thank you for response.

M's seem to be much harder to get, but then all the ones I have see it would appear that the main motive was not to study.

$22,000? That seems very low. Is that for one year? What length would be the course?

F1 only requires proof for the 1st year of tuition and living expenses. If he chooses a public college it could be even less than $22.000. It mostly depends on the school itself.

I believe for the M1 you need to show that you have enough money for the complete course and living expenses. I would think that makes it more expensive.

Maybe someone else knows more.

Good luck!

Why are you looking to do an Associates Degree?

Morock, what exactly are you looking for? An academic degree or a vocational one?

For vocational training I would stay in Europe. The 3-year apprentice-ships there are accepted everywhere. For example, if you are looking into mechanics you can apply to Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, VW and BMW directly. They pay you for the training and license you. Also, they all manufacture internationally so they have no issue with foreigners.

Why pay for something you can get paid for somewhere else? Tell us what you want to do and maybe we can come up with a solution.

I am applying for a M-1 visa. If I would go to a school here in Europe for the same education it would cost me more.

I don't know why it should be harder to get than a F visa.

The downpart is that you are not allowed to work on the M-1 visa. So if you take that into consideration, it can be more expensive with this kind of visa. You have to take a big loan to prove that you have enough money not just to pay for tuition and books etc, but also to be able to support yourself during your stay in the US.
