Im new to VJ, hello guys! Ok so me and my husband met in aug 2010 through mutual friends, we talked and gradually became partners. He proposed to me in Jan 2011 and we got married in sept 2011. Thing is we decided to get married on my 1st visit to Lagos. I deeply love my husband and I hope the embassy doesn't think it's fraud cause I married him on my first visit. We just got back from our honeymoon in duiba. This was our second time seeing each other. I plan to go back to Lagos in June. What do u guys think ? We instantly connected and knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. I just hope they don't see a problem with that. I have been reading all u guys post and I'm preparing well for the interview stage with lots of pics, emails, skype. I need input??

have you filed a petition with USCIS yet? The left side of your profile says k3 visa, why? I suggest you complete your timeline if you have one so people can assit you accurately. Lagos is a tough consulate.. so you marriage time can be questioned and present tough interview. But if you are able to proof ur marriage and support it, then there's always a chance to succeed. Let me ask you though, did you consider this short notice (1st visit marriage thing) before you thought of filing? gdluck.

Congratulations on your reltionship. while it may raise eyebrows, ultimately it is your husbands ability to defend the union and relaionship at the time of interview that will tell.

you need to package your application well with enough proof and both of you need to know the tiniest detail about each other as they wmay want to test that durig interview.

Well yes I have filed the petition I130 back in nov however I'm knew to this and I'm barely understanding the lingo, I have a lawyer working the case and I have received my receipt from USCIS stating they have received my petition and it is in process. We had been planning on getting married when I arrived so I didn't bother me as to what embassy would think to after the fAct. I'm just ver nervous. My lawyer And I filed the petition in November so we are goin on month 3 of this process. Oh and I'm sorry I pulled out thee receitvand it says California service center.

Princess- how many time did u guys visit each other?

It's really emotional guys me and my husband are always practicing about his confidence because he doesn't verbalize himself as good as I do, so I give him a hard time about speaking clear and slow. But I'm definitely preparing for the NVC stage .

Be careful with doing/paying for everything the lawyer says.. this process is not that difficult and lawyers have no effect when it comes to interview stage...like others have said your hubby has to answer the questions. so unless you have some extra-ordinary situation, u should reconsider the lawyer part. this journey is tiring and expensive enuf.

well yes it is definitely expensive however i run a bussiness and im very busy so i needed help filing for my husband. however im doing my own research and making sure i definitely understand this process. but the lawyer is very helpful for me. im doing okay finacially so thats not even my problem. i checked with the USCIS and they stated i should received a decision sometime by april 14 because the california service center is currently takiong 5months to process petitions. and yes my husband has to have confidence and faith. i appreciate all you all replies. so if i complete my timeline guys i really dont have one as of yet right? all i have is the USCIS Receit. i dont have any of the NOA1 OR NOA2 stuff i see you guys post

First of all Welcome to VJ!

I'm of the opinion the CO's are varied in their decisions based on how the wind blows, documentation, and how well the beneficiary does at the interview...along with God's hand of course. My hubby and I married on our first visit (and I was unable to return even for his interview). I have known spouses who married on the first, second, or third visit, some approved, some denied. Others have made a qazillion visits, and they were denied, and yet others (myself included) were approved. Each case is unique. Just have a ton of documentation, pictures (and keep saving even after filing so you can show continued communication/visits - send everything to him once you have your interview date)...and keep preparing your hubby for his interview. God Bless.

Toni

Hi Truelove and welcome to VJ. I married my husband on my first trip as well and had he been here I would have married him the first chance I got. Neither of us knew anything about how the "visa process" worked. All we knew was God created us for each other. Regardless of how long this process takes, whether people feel there is some magic formula to being approved in Lagos, or how the interview goes love your husband unconditionally and believe in God's timing not man's.
