The entire event should be something joyful and celebratory, bringing us together, and not a royal P.I.T.A...
How about splitting the costs of this royal vacation 50/50? See what she says to that? Why should you pay for it all? When I met my fiancee I stayed in her home with her family on both trips. Free and simple. No extravagant requests, although we did go see Sochi on my initiative after half way into our first 9 week meeting in Russia.

To me it sounds like this lady wants to use a "desperate American" who hasn't gotten any in a while for a free trip to Europe. Bravo if she succeeds. It is just one of many reasons for using an agency for both Americans and Russians. Mutual benefit, not a scam. If she can pull of the trip and avoid sleeping with the fellow, it is an even bigger victory.

Sorry, Dan, can't say I have been there done that in terms of agencies. We met randomly on ICQ.

Yeah, well go figure, I'm sure the agency would get a slice of the pie from the travel expenses. No doubt.

And, nope, I was fine with paying my own way (and hers!) if we were to just meet and stay in Russia the first time. But having been around the block once or twice, as I've said, the red flags I'm seeing ain't a May Day Celebration in Krasnya Plochad!

I have a feeling she's about to get quite a surprise. I'm definitely not desparate and it doesn't look like she's going to get the trip to Europe.

Maybe I'll bring her some flowers if I decide to visit her home town. Then again... heh...

I'm trying to be careful what I say about "meeting another woman" or the "thought police" who monitor the Russia forum will declare that I'm another Cam in the making!

;)

That's HUMOR, folks...

I hear ya on the humor. But I think all of us hate to see anyone get scammed unless they truly deserve it. :-)

I don't think she's "scamming" per se, as I know she's a real person.

But I think perhaps she is more of a "gold-digger" type who just expects to be "cared for" by someone with money, and sure, if you want to meet me, great, let's go..... somewhere expensive. Not that all she wants is money, but I get the feeling she seems to feel she is "priviledged" and wants to be well-kept.

Mind you, I know many RW who are very very frugal and barely want a kopeck at all spent on them... so this one was out of left field for me...

So I can't say she's a scammer, but I think she's out of touch with the financial realities of the world ~or~ she's being pushed by the woman who owns the agency that she's a part of...

"hey, go somewhere nice, maybe he will buy you nice vacation if he wants you so badly"... Such things can and do happen...

But I ain't biting that hook... sowwwwwy...
