Hi everyone,

I'm waiting for interview date, so I start to collect all evidences that we have, please take look at it for me if I miss something. Any advice will be appreciated. Here is our background.

Pet and Be never married before, he's older than me 5 y/o

We've been knowing each other 1 year and a half, he came here 3 times, proposed me on the 1st time he came here. We didn't do Dam Hoi and Dam Cuoi, we just had small party with my family, also we went to my hometown to introduced him to my relatives.

I've talked to his parents on skype sometimes, and email them every now and then.

So all evidences that I have are

- Photos of 3 trip (we traveled a lot, photos of me and him together, and with my family...)

- Our wedding album, Skype chat photos

- Flight tickets, hotel, restaurant, mail receipts

- Yahoo chat, skype chat, skype history call, facebook

- Emails from him and his parents

- Mail, cards from him ans his parents

- Wedding plan

- Timeline update

Is it enough or is there anything else that I can add? :help:

Thank you for reading.

I assume you mean your engagement photo book, correct?

I wouldnt refer to it as a 'wedding album' since you are submitting for a fiance visa.

It's a wedding album, I wear wedding dress and he wear vest. We wanted to do it here cause it's so much cheaper and my friend did it for us.

You might want to also prepare a list of residency for the past 10 years. They asked my fiancee for this information. Also, if you are on a K1 visa then you do not want to refer to the album as a "wedding" album since that would lead the CO to assume you are already married. You might want to call it an "Engagement" album. If you are already married, you will not be able to go the K1 route.

I am not a fiance filer, but looks okay to me. Good luck!

Like others have said, you might want to get that residency timeline prepared. And list out any relatives you have in the US.

Many people who have the Dam Hoi still put on the tux and gown for the party. That doesn't mean it's a wedding. You really do NOT want to use the word "wedding" when describing this event. If the consular officer thinks there's any chance you went ahead and got married then they'll tell you that you're not eligible for a fiancee visa, and you'll be denied.

Remember: When talking to the consular officer:

* It was an engagement party - NOT a wedding party.

* He is your fiance - NOT your husband.

* You are his fiancee - NOT his wife.

Consular officers in Saigon have been known to try to trip up K1 interviewees by using words like "your husband" or "your wedding". You need to catch this when the consular officer says it and correct them. "He's my fiance. He's not my husband yet." Ok?

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

Thanks everyone for your advices. Well, I know that we shouldn't use the word "wedding" since we do K1 visa. The thing is that we never ever have any Đám Hỏi, and wedding party in here. We went to some nice places take photos of us on tux and gown, then made an album, which will use for our wedding in US, cause you know taking photos is so much cheaper in Vietnam, we did it in advance. But my fiance did mention in the timeline that we did take wedding photos (not wedding party photos), now I cannot say that's just engagement photo album, cause it will against what my fiance wrote. Did we screw up everything? :(

You're missing the 3 big pieces of paper they would want the most.

10 year residence from Petitioner and Beneficiary from each of you. You break it down by years, then address, and then whom lived there and relationship to that person. Notarized.

You would need a timeline relationship describing how you met up until the wedding. Notarized.

If you traveled and lived in another country, have a police certificate for that.

If you don't have them, they either going to drop you from the interview, and give you a paper to come back with these items to further process the VISA.

These items are commonly included when blue slips are issued at the interview. Better to be prepared in that event.

Leave the Wedding Album at home!!!!.. It is just that, a wedding album.. we had one done as well and it just adds confusion to the proccess.. If you did not have a Dam Hoi, you will need to be able to explain why. It is part of the VN culture and the consulate expects it. Given the fact that you did not follow the cultural norms, they may ask for the items listed above...

the lack of a dam hoi and the marriage proposal on the very first trip...maybe by themselves is not unusual but when you have both in the same case is weird. from the CO's pov you guys could be rushing through the process and the relationship.

fwiw i did not have a dam hoi but i'd known my then-fiancee for 5 years and the topic never came up during the interview. i'd written in the timeline it was just assumed we would get married after our son was born and we had a small party with her immediate family/relatives.
