So NOA2 was sent to NVC about 11 days ago from California Service Center (so 8 business days). I call the Automated system every now and then and enter my Receipt Number and it always says "We have no record of your case..."

I see a lot of people post on here 2 different dates for when NVC receives their case from USCIS and another date for when they first get a case number which seems to take a little bit longer.

So the question is, does the automated system give me a separate message each for when they both received my case and when they assign a NVC case number, or is there just one automated message only after the case number is assigned? If it is just one automated message that you can only get once you have a case number assigned then how are people differentiating between when they get a case number and when NVC receives their stuff? It would really just be nice to at least know they received our case.

Don't rely on any Automatic Messaging. I never recieved anything. (e-mail etc)

Generally, it takes 3 weeks for a Country Specific Case #. (In my case: Philippines)

I was only able to get the Case# by calling during business hours at NVC 1-603-334-0700 and got the Case #. They never mailed ANYTHING and No E-Mails whatsoever.

If I did'nt call I would never know what it was.

You have to talk to an operator. The AVR is usually a few days late, and I don't think it tells you if your case was received. I think the 1st update is your case number.

It's a little different for a IR1/CR1 visa, they do send you stuff, but you have to make sure that they take your email address.

You do that by talking to an operator, when you get your case number and Invoice Identification Number.
