Oh yes, I didn't see you already got an RFE. Yes, the evidence will have to predate the filing of the application, but otherwise, all good ideas here.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package

Wow....... thank you so much everyone for your input and advice. Glad I found that the messages had been sent to "Canada" and merged. I didn't notice before that there was a Canada specific section.

Yes, we are literally right on the border, so there's no flying between the countries. We've been scrounging around to find receipts, etc.... My daughter will be requesting past mastercard statements that show purchases in the US. They have gone to Chicago together, so her fiance is trying to find receipts for the places they went there. They also have pictures of them there help document that trip.

Great idea about the licenses and screenshot of the map distance! There are bridge tolls between the countries, but she never thought to ask for a receipt, but she DOES fill up on gas before crossing back into Canada......... much cheaper in the US! She has those receipts!

AWESOME idea about the roaming cell charges...... we DO have the bills for those..... and there are many, LOL!

This is just awesome and thank you sooooo much everyone for your advice! Yes, unfortunately since this is a RFE, there's no point in asking for passports to be stamped now. We may be able to gather just enough that they will be satisfied.

Requirements are that they've been together, in person, at least once in the past 2 years, right?? There are a few dated receipts, whether it be gas or car parts, at different times during those 2 years and many pictures....... that include small children that have grown over the time. Could these not be considered "proof" of the time stamp?

anyways, thank you again sooooo much!!! I've spent hours going through this very informative site and message board. It's awesome!!

Everything you wrote looks great. Remember the statement/letter as well explaining why there are no stamps or tickets, a relationship timeline if you will. I would write it something like:

Fiance name and I live X miles from each other (please see enclosed Map as well as photocopies of licences showing address). We travel to each other every weekend via the X land border. No tickets are required and no stamps are placed in our passports.

Please find enclosed the following evidence of meeting in the last 2 years prior to filing:

- Bank statement of X showing purchases in US

- Bank statements of Y showing purchases in Canada

- Photos from Christmas/Easter/Thanksgiving

- etc

If you can get bank statements showing purchases in the same area (like Chicago) that would indicate you were there together.

It's really hard for us 'cause you don't think to keep the receipts and all that... you're just living your life and not really thinking about immigration. It was pure luck that I had the ticket stubs still from my trip.

I think the OP now has the guidance they need but I've seen several posters confusing evidence of relationship with evidence of meeting. They are two entirely separate issues. No amount of evidence of relationship will overcome a lack of evidence of meeting. At the petition stage, there is not even any requirement to include evidence of relationship. This case lacked primary evidence of meeting in person within the past two years. That's why they got an RFE.

A passport stamp now, after already filing the petition would be of no use whatsoever. Only if flying instead of driving could one expect a passport stamp and then in many cases you must request it. Totally irrelevant to the OP's question.

It's true, that having a passport stamp will not make a difference for my daughter & fiance now. The I-129f was sent in August '11. If they'd have known BEFORE filing, they absolutely would have asked to have their passports stamped when crossing. Too late now.

We have found numerous cell phone bills that show fees for "txts sent while roaming in US" as well as roaming phone calls & data. These are like receipts. She's requesting mastercard statements for tickets she bought for them to see a play in Michigan, plus numerous gas receipts from over the border.

Thank you everyone for all the help and kind words ........... especially telling me I'm "such a nice mom" :) That touched my heart!

The OP needs help proving that they've met in the past, before filing the petition, not that they maintain a relationship. They are two different things ;) A new passport stamp would not help them with the petition. It could, however, be used as evidence of an ongoing relationship at the interview at the consulate later on (although the Montreal and Vancouver consulates rarely ask for this.)

Anyways glad to see that this question has been mostly answered. The Canada forum folks are very friendly, so make sure to stop by here if you have any questions! :) There's a K1 guide for Montreal (if your daughter lives in eastern Canada that's where she'll be interviewing) that's helpful.

I read more than the title, enough to understand the problem. You can disagree until the cows come home but your advice is useless in solving the actual problem.
