Hello I am new here and so happy :D I found this site! I can't say I have found great comfort in reading everyone's timelines because I never thought it would take that long! I met my fiance last year in January and we got engaged in October in Amman, Jordan. I am also orignially from Jordan but I was raised in the US and that was my first time back to Jordan (I was way to young to remember it).

We met on yahoo chat and fell in love. I know that sounds cheesy but since so many of you fell in love the same way I feel comfy saying it. :D I applied for the K-1 Visa on November 16 and yesterday I went online and check the case status....RFE :( . I have not recieved the notice yet, so I don't know what its for but I am worried.

I was wondering if anyone could share their experiances with me regarding K-1's or tell me what I can expect.

Thanks a bunch (F)

Filing from Jordan is a tough process, you are merely at the beginning and unfortunately you have a long time to go....i would expect a year from start to finish....amman is very helpful with everything you need (once your file gets there) and are always prompt on returning emails and such....but they are sooo backed up from processing for 2 countries that it takes many months once your file arrives there until the actual interview date...there are quite a few people here processing from amman.....i myself, an american, have been in jordan for 8 months now, and my husband and i filed directly from the embassy here....our interview is in about 3 weeks and inshallah that is the end for us and we can go home.....about your RFE you will recieve something in the mail.....send them what they ask youf ro and you will be back on your way....best of luck to you

Ahlan Jordanian Princess.

Well as Dollface mentioned, if you are going through Amman expect a long wait. Feel Free to ask questions about Amman. there are a few of us who processed thru there. And please Join us the the Yallah Middle east thread. We have some old links in there that specifically pertain to the consulate in Amman.

If you have a RFE they just want more information or maybe you forgot to send Information in ur petition.

And yep I met my husband via Yahoo chat also

Ahlan jordanianprincess,

We also filed in Amman and it was roughly a 1 year process for us. I have a girlfriend who will be waiting around 18 to 19 months for their process. I agree with the girls that you probably need more information.

Good luck in your processing!!!!

Mar7aba Jordanianprincess ! We're glad to have you join us here in our little corner of the VJ world !

There are many members processing through Jordan, but most are CR-1s, which might have a bit different timeframe. (CR-1s do more processing and security checks up front, as they are "immigrant visas," so they usually take longer. K-1s do much of that stuff during "adjustment of status," after the beneficiary arrives in the U.S.)

The only recent K-1 processing through Jordan that I can remember right now was cryssoud... we haven't heard from them in a while, but you might check their timeline if you can find it here.... it might give you an idea of what kind of wait you're looking at with the K-1.

Sorry to hear about the darn RFE... they can slow you down a bit, but just stay strong and insha'allah you'll make it through with flying colors !

Wishing you all the best with your visa journey....

Hi and welcome! MK is correct....we don't have any K-1 data on Jordan. I went through the jordan members and came up empty, sorry. So....I hope you continue posting and share your experience all the way through. Don't get too discouraged about the timelines...for the step you are in now, it will probably be completed and approved within a few days of giving them whatever they are requesting so be sure to get whatever that is turned around quickly. (have you recieved a letter from them about it yet?) So basically you just have the embassy portion to work through and even though we all have long waits to report, you will be "standing in a different line" and can pretty much expect a shorter wait than any of the cr-1 interview waits.

you know, it's funny, I think Said and I are one of the few couples here who actually met first time in person. lol! we didn't even start chatting until abt 5 months later... I had to ask him to please meet me online cuz I needed to have that contact w/ him if this was going to work - even tho we spoke on the phone almost daily. I needed to *see* him on camera and have that interaction w/ him. now we still speak by phone daily and chat online almost every day unless our schedules just don't allow it!

I can't wait!!! only one more month til I see my love again!!!!

Good luck jordanianprincess!

My husband and I met each other in person as I was travelling in the West Bank, but I have to say that it was the many hours we spent in chat and in phone calls after I returned to the U.S. that made our relationship grow into love.

Many, many couples meet through the internet these days.... I know quite of few of them. Most of the couples here on VJ are "internet romances." And there's nothing wrong with that... in fact I think it's an improvement over modern "dating" in many ways, as the physical distractions are minimized. You're forced to actually have conversations, and this is a much better way to find out if your personalities are compatible.
