NVC Wait Times

I have heard that tis process could take as little as a couple days.... but in some cases months... what is the trend?

it took us 17 days from approval until NVC forwarded to the embassy... although our file showed a "touch" 4 after approval so i know USCIS didnt forward it straight away

It took us 7 1/2 weeks to go from USCIS to the NVC. No reason was given for our delay. A wait that long is fairly rare though!

Up to 2 weeks is what the majority of people wait.

I see from your timeline that you did the medical before the file has even been received at NVC wondering if that affects anything down the road... If I can I want to get the medical out of the way as I am traveling to see my fiancee in a couple weeks.

In Ireland, one can do the medical before one receives anything from the Embassy.

In other countries, you have to wait.

It varies country by country.

I read (I believe on the U.S. Dept of Sate website) that the medical and visa have to be valid (not expired) upon entry to the U.S.. What I don't know is how long the medical results are good for.....we haven't done that yet. The visa is good for 6 months. If the medical is due to expire you could always do it again.

Medical is 6 months or a year. Not sure which one! But AT LEAST 6 months!

Just called the NVC and our file was sent to Dublin on the 26th.

Should be in Dublin next week, I suppose.

I'm visiting the States next week, hope to have Packet 3 waiting for me when I get home!

im sorry but im kind of lost how do you know if its touch and what its RFE

I-129F approved VSC 1/13/2012.......NVC received 1/27/2012.

if you get an RFE you will be notified by email and normal mail and it will say on the case status website. a touch is when your file gets looked at and you can tell this by looking at the "last updated" date on the case status website

it took us 26 days from approval to receiving packet 3 from the embassy but most of that time was waiting for NVC to receive our case. once they have it it will go quite quickly
