Paper NOA2 Question

I got my paper NOA2 today!! But I have a question about it, I'm wondering if I'm missing some info? This website: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1309.html Says that I'm supposed to have a priority date on my NOA2 paper, but that section on mine is blank. The NOA2 says that "The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate" though it doesn't list a particular consulate anywhere on it (even though I know its Sydney).

It also says its "Valid from 01/25/2012 to 05/25/2012" does this mean it has to be approved completely before then? Is this normal? I've obviously never been to this stage in this process before lol Thanks for any help!

(And yes I have read the guides and did some google searching on the subject but I can't seem to either find or really 'get' the answers to my questions so any straight answers would be most appreciated!)

Priority date does not mean anything for a K-1 its for people who are not US citizens that are filing for family / spouses.

The Valid date is for the USCIS and consulate. No need to worry about it.

Hi,

NOA2 doesn't actually list consulate, even though it says so. Priority date is not for K1 as Inky said. You'll notice when you get your packet 3 that you are advised to make sure your packet thre is returned in enough time to get the interview finalised before the end of your validity date. The valid date does matter, but only effects you in terms of how long you take to get packet 3 complete and returned. It effects the NVC/Consulate process as it limits how long they can keep the file hanging around. Congratulations...you are much closer to the end now!

AOS Timeline

Received Green Card 6th October. No Interview. Amazing!
Thanks for all the help, see you again in June 2014

Thank you!! That makes me feel better :3 Oh I feel like a weight is off with this NOA2! Ben's starting this coming week to get his medical and police report done, is this the perfect time for him to or should he wait to receive something from them?

Congrats on the NOA2!!

I would definitely be getting the police check organised ASAP. I don't know what state Ben is in - but I was in NSW and they took forever to get it back to me!! They told me it would take 7-10days - it ended up taking 25!!

Not 100% sure on the medical since you guys are doing K1 and I did CR-1. You (well, Ben) can try to schedule the medical - but some of the panel physicians wont give you an appointment without an NVC case number. Also, I have read about the timing of the medical being somewhat more important for K1s because I think the medical still needs to be valid at the time of AOS. That isn't an issue for CR-1/IR-1. Hopefully someone with more K1 knowledge can clarify this for you.
