We are both committed Christians who have always been prepared to wait until after we are married to start our 'official' lives together, so none of the fun stuff until then.

Not in the fun stuff category, but a heads up that you need to start your official lives together on paper, even if not in the bedroom, and not wait 10 months for the ceremony. USCIS is going to want to see evidence of your whole marriage (from Sept 2012)especially when you remove conditions. Joint bank accounts, joint tax returns, both names on lease, joint utility/credit card bills, car/car insurance in both names, driver licenses showing same address. Don't leave a 10 month void with no evidence of mingling you lives and finances.

We're hoping to be married in a courthouse late September (if the Visa is approved) but won't be having our wedding until after he has finished his schooling next July! And, to make this even more challenging, we won't be living together until after the July wedding because we want the full wedding experience. We are both committed Christians who have always been prepared to wait until after we are married to start our 'official' lives together, so none of the fun stuff until then.

We have been together 4.5 years already, what's another 1.5?

Oh, and I can't imagine not having my father give me away and the whole wedding day experience. It is something I have dreamt about for years and I am so excited to start planning in more detail!

In light of what Nich-Nick said, I'd suggest you get a preacher to do your courthouse wedding. At least in my home town, there are plenty of them willing and able.

We didn't do a courthouse wedding, but we pulled off a nice small ceremony in less than a month from his arrival. Wedding dress, rings, family, cake and preacher included.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.
