Hi Everyone!

We are alittle confused about the Social Security number and card thing.

Faisal got here on December 20th on his CR-1. We received his Green Card today (January 25th).

What do we have to do to get his Social Security number and card? We checked the box to say that he wanted one issued when we filled out his application. I didn't do anything else.

What is next? Do we go to Social Security or do we wait for them to send us something?

Confused! Thanks all! B-)

We checked the block as well but never heard anything so we went to the local office with the green card, his birth certificate original and translation, and his Moroccan ID. Our local office requested proof of residence (home title) and marriage certificate and they requested his card. We got the card in 10 days.

Should not be a problem I say call the office first and confirm what they require. We had to go twice, it will save you a trip.

Good luck,

Same thing for us...checked the box but never got it...went to local office with green card and they applied for it again for him...it did take 4 weeks to get it..but have received it....

I would just call or go into local office and do it there.

You have to go to the Social Security office and apply for it. My husband got his very quickly, in just a few days.
