Hello everyone

I am trying to get some info for a friend who was brought here as in infant in 1947. Her mother is a Canadian citizen and father was a US citizen. She has been paying in to the system for over 30 years and is in need of financial help. But she cant get any social security benefits because she was told by the govt that she is not a US citizen. She lost her Social Security Card and did not have a copy of it. As far as I know she cant even get a duplicate of it. What is the procedure and what does she need to get her the citizenship? What forms does she need to fill out?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

if i'm not mistaking, as it says on the form I-485, if you have been continuously present in the State since 1972 (correct me if i'm worng), she can apply for adjustment of status.. but i'm pretty sure that will only grant her a green card.. i think...

don't take my word for it though.

She might have claim to US Citizenship based on her father's Citizenship.

What were the requirements when she was born?

Also, how did she come to the US, was it an immigrant Visa?
