I hope this question isn't too out of place...

I will be traveling to Cambodia to wed my Khmer wife in mid-March of this year. She asked if I would bring some fruit (strawberries and cherries) when I came and stated that her Khmer neighbor visits the United States occasionally and brings back a variety of meats and fresh fruit.

I was wondering if it is possible/legal to bring fresh fruit from the USA into Cambodia (with a stop in Seoul, Korea).

If anyone can offer any advice on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!

PS: I am very excited to finally be visiting Cambodia! More importantly, to finally meet,in person, my wife and family!

Enjoy Cambodia, but for what it's worth..it's sweeter and better from Cambodia...and cheaper!

And I assume you meant to say going to meet her family for the first time, not your wife. If you are married, you had to have met her personally already.

Congrats..and Enjoy.

Pack it in your suitcase. Don't worry cause it won't spoil. I've brought cherries and plums when I went over last year. No problem taking it out of the United States, just don't bring any fruits back cause you'll have a hard time. As far as meats, I'm not sure but I can tell you that there's plenty of meats out there. Phnom Penh is a modern city with just about everything you need. I prefer the fruits from over there anyway but cherries are good. There are malls and supermarkets there so you don't have to fill your suitcase with shampoo and soap. They have it there. Before my first trip, I thought everybody in Cambodia was still riding "ah-teah koa". I was wrong even though I did see many in the countryside. Its modern and more hustle and bustle then many cities here in the U.S. Don't worry too much and practice your Khmer.
