Approved on Jan 10 and received Visa on Jan 13

Embassy interview was a bit nerve wracking. The 1st lady we spoke to at the window was very rude for no apparent reason. That had us both worrying. But after that we spoke to a very nice american guy who asked a few questions to us both then gave us a thumbs up and said APPROVED.

Thanks everyone for all your info and experiences. From filing date to having Visa in hand in 7 loooooong monthes.

We just need the CFO seminar and a plane ticket and this is finally over.

Good luck to everyone else in the process,I hope your journey is nearing the end.

Still concerned because her passport is inside the plastic bad that says DO NOT OPEN.Its not in the sealed yellow envelope. Is that safe to open plastic bag?I told her not to open it unless people at CFO tell her to do it.

What I did is made a neat cut in the plastic that is enough to slide the passport out... Congratulations!!!

First, like all the rest, congratulations.

Second, the passport is in a bad that says DO NOT OPEN. This doesn't seem even remotely up for debate. I see one person who said they cut a slit, and no one noticed. I wouldn't chance it.

I see things fairly black and white, if you get someone who is equally color blind, you will get in some level of hot water. Other people might just overlook it. The problem I'd see, is how do I, whatever official you might be in front of, know you only took out your passport?

might there have been something else which you didn't want me to see...

Frankly, it's likely just cutting a slit will be no problem. BUT, and this is a BIG BUT, it Clearly says not to open, and how do you defend that. If someone says hey I need your passport, and you say to them, OK, YOU open the Do Not Open bag,and they might calm down, not wanting to annoy whatever bureaucratic Gods they might serve in their own jobs.

just wanted to point out the obvious...

and again congrats!
