If you're from Canada as your emblem suggests, then you might consult an immigration attorney. I was talking to mine last Friday when he mentioned in passing that Canadians technically don't require a visa to come to the US. I'm telling you to consult a lawyer because I might've misunderstood or there may be certain restrictions. But it's certainly worth looking into if you haven't already! Best of luck!

He's talking about a visitor's visa, which is much different from immigrating to the US.

Thanks again to my VJ family. I think we have it all together and we are saving the financial paperwork for the interview and suggested. I'm really hoping they will let me go visit for a bit though. I can prove VERY strong ties to Canada still as I am my moms power of Attorney and because she doesn't have much time left I then ill be her executrix so much to still for me here to take care of...I sure could use a bit of down time...lol

much thanks all

Terri

Hi Terri,

SO sorry you had to go through all of this BS. I know this time around will be easier and MUCH faster.

For Fresy's interview I sent (1) copy of the I-134 (NOT notarized), last 3 years of tax returns with W-2's, letter from my employer stating date of hire, position and annual salary and a few recent pay stubs. I sent this information via Fedex about 10 days before Fresy's interview - no problems at all.\

Wishing you the absolute best of luck.

Alan

Why did you need 3 years of tax returns

We just sent one photo and the only thing I was asked for at the interview was a photo.

I did not know what notarisation was, not something you do in the UK.

I self sponsored, but they never asked for anything at the interview. I had my financial date with me.

Just wondering what could have taken 300 pages? I can imagine my response if something like that hit my desk!

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

We had nothing notarized and the I-134 didn't even come into play until his interview. For the original USCIS petition we included the I-129F, G-325A for both of us, letters of intent from both of us (signed), proof of meeting (they want info the demonstrates that you have physically been in the same place together over the last 2 years, things like cards and letters really don't matter at this point. What's important are stamps in passports, boarding passes, receipts for trips or hotels you stayed at together, photos (we sent about 12; try to have some where there are more than just the two of you in the photos, like say family members), photo-copy of the front & BACK of the birth certificate for the petitioner, passport sized photos signed on the backs. I payed close attention to the VJ guide for the K1 and everything went well for us with no RFEs. Make sure that if you cannot fit everything on one G-325A form that you complete another one and that you put a note on the first one saying see page number "blank" for continuation and on the continuation form that you put down "continuation of G-325A question "blank"" and make sure to sign and date each additional sheet.

Hope this helps. :)

The initial I-129F is rather simple compared to the rest of the process, but as time goes by you will become more familiar with it and the workings of the system. When I first found this place I was terrified of the work ahead of me, but now I see that it was easy to do, especially if you have a question you can post it here and get an answer rather soon. You can also search for timelines close to yours and make friends with folks who are 4-8 weeks ahead of you in their process and watch them to see what will be expected of you.

I am sorry for what happen on your petition. I just got approved yesterday from Vermont. I followed the guidelines on VJ. My petition was about 1 months of chats. A few months at the beginning, middle and prior to filing the petition. I had 4 pictures of us together in Manila printed from Walmart. Then I made 6 Powerpoint slides with 3 picture on each page with details on what took place in the photos. I wrote on the Walmart pictures too! I sent copies of packing slips of item I sent her and the kids. I made copies of all the letter she and family sent me. A copy of the reciept of the engagement rings, phone bill showing text messages, copies of my passport, copy of her passport, copies of plane ticket/boarding, copies of hotel reciepts and any places we visited together and family picture of us together. My coverletter was the same use in the guideline. My letter of intent was similar to VJ's guideline. What I did was I made 4 copies of all docuemnts, (letter of intent, I-129, her G-235-A, and my G-235) I signed them and had her sign them too. As for the letter of intent, she signed a copy and sent back to me. I sign the letter of intent of marriage and then took it to the notary. Then I sent the notorized copy with my petition. That was basically my petition.

Good Luck
