My wife will be applying for citizenship soon. We are in Northern Virginia and I hear Fairfax is terribly slow at processing apps. I have family in NC and Ohio. Would there be any problem with us going through Raleigh and using my brother's address? I was thinking about Raleigh or Cinci Ohio. Thanks for any ideas you all have. We just want to get this done asap so that we can apply for her parents permanent residence.

The question is...do they verify your address?

You need to use the address that USCIS knows you live at. There would have had to be an AR-11 of your'address change' (which would be lying). Trying to use an alternate address isn't really worth it - you have to prove you've lived at that address for a certain period anyway before you can apply for citiznship through that office.

I went through Fairfax - it was slightly less than 5 months from filing to OATH.....that's not really slow.

Even if they "change" the address now, they have to live in the same district/state for three months before they can apply. So it will not be faster.

And I am repeating: Don't try to cheat and never lie to the USCIS!

No, you cannot. You can file using your home address, or you can move to Raleigh, actually live there, wait out the period to file, and hope it is faster. Those are your only choices.

I didn't suggest cheating...I was suggesting exactly what you've noted that an address change (an honest one) would still require them to live in that district.

To the OP - I wouldn't get too excited about the perceived 'wait' you think is taking place at teh Fairfax VA office....everyone's circumstances are different, others may get RFE's that affect their schedule so it's almost impossible to compare your wife's case against them.

Like I said, I had zero RFE's or any trouble and my N400 took roughly 5 months from filing to Oath day in Fairfax. Lying about the address and trying to 'get around the system' to make your application faster would just do more harm then good.

Well, your post was very much to the point.

During the interview, the OP's wife will be under oath to tell the truth. The officer will go over the N-400 form and verify all the info, including the fake NC or OH address.
