K1 Visa in Hand!

So, I have finally reached the end of the K1 paperwork and stress I had my interview in Vancouver this past wednesday and it was eventful to say the least. My fiance came with me and good thing he did! I was a wreck the morning of the interview but once I stepped into the consulate, I was back to calm (for the most part) . My fiance was all worried that all the people lined up outside waiting to get their turn through security were going to beat us up when we just trotted right up to the front without waiting in line . But because VJ kept me one up in the game I knew we were good to go with cutting in and heading right to the front with my interview letter!

We were going through the second security station and I was joking to the fellow inspecting our folder of contents that we are probably over prepared for our interview with all our evidence. The 2 guys started laughing at me and one of them lifted up my folder and said it was only 4 lbs - around 10 lbs is the norm for people

I was the last of 3 of us to be interviewed. The 2 other ladies were all stressed out when they were giving their forms to the lady behind the plexiglass window. THe lady was not impressed to say the least with the outdated forms and lack of original documents that she was getting from them. And the worst part was that both had went through lawyers at a cost over $3000 When I was called to submit my forms she was so impressed with how organized i was and said to keep my lawyer - when I told her that we had done this ourselves she was so surprised. The girls right away wrote down the VJ website for their reference!

THe only glitch I had with my paper work was that the doc from Saskatoon didn't completely fill out the forms that were in the sealed envelope! The lady at the counter was so annoyed at the doctor and said that she would hound him to fax in the filled forms! But of course it was noon hour in Saskatchewan at that time so she couldn't get a hold on him!! So MAKE SURE that when you go to see Dr. CHau in Saskatoon that you ask him over and over if everything is filled out fully - he chats alot during the medical and probably just got side tracked but that almost costed me my visa!

My interview questions were:

How did you meet?

How often do you see eachother?

He asked my fiance what he does for a living

When did we get engaged?

Do we have any pictures to show?

And then he asked me about what type of visa I had for the 2 summers that I was in Oregon. That is about all. my fiance had a surprisingly larger part in the interview about explaining how we met (I interned at his work place 2 years ago), so good thing he was there. I would have had troubles explaining about the details of the company. They told me to come back at 1:30 to pick up the visa (assuming that she would get the fax from the doctor by that time). When I came back they had just got the fax and were waiting for the interviewer to sign off before generating my visa and package.

I asked her what was in the brown envelope. She said everything we have ever submitted to the USCIS and everything we gave at the interview. She congratulated me and said that as long as I am as organized as i was for this visa I should have no problems adjusting status after. She also said that she tried to get my fiance's attention from where he was pacing outside the consulate to give him the thumbs up that we had the visa She was great, but i think only because i was so organized - ah, good old VJ!

Congratulations! I posted this on the jen and darcy post but wanted to thank you for your description of your interview. Mine is in November, and I have my medical in 2 weeks with Dr. Chau, so it was really helpful to know what your experience was. I will for sure ask him to make sure he fills out everything.

First of all, congratulations! Second of all.. i have a question.. we can cut in the crowd? I'll do a K3 interview later (when I get approved.. haha) and am just gathering some info in regards to the vancouver embassy... If i have a K3 letter I can actually cut in? is that true? or should i just line up with the rest of the crew?

So, what kind of organization is required? I thought we just had to have our original documents and copies, affidavit of support, and proof of relationship? Everything I have fits into a clear plastic folder. Y'all are making me nervous!
