I got my case number

I just got my case number but when I go online to check my status it says that it cannot be found.. I can see there were many people having that problem before but is that going to be solved and will I be able to check my status online or not? Any ideas? All I really want to know is where are we going to be processed...

Also anyone knows what EAC stands for?

Hi, what you have is your USCIS reciept number. A case number is asigned to you when you get the the NVC stage, which is AFTER vermont and before the Embassy. Your receipt number might bring something up and it might not. It'####### and miss. I know it seems like you have a long wait, but Vermont is going really fast at the moment. I got approved and my NOA2 issued in 126 days, less than the average at that time. Keep trying the USCIS website periodically, but don't worry if it doesn't show up.

EAC = Eastern Adjudication Center = Vermont service center.

It might take a while before you can check your receipt number online. The NOA1 email usually says you should wait for a few weeks before you look.

Don't worry about the website. It is widely known that it is rarely up to date and correct. You have your ( I assume NOA-1) be happy, prepare for the journey and good luck.

Seems you got all the answers.

Your number will be updated in the system and in short time you will be able to confirm it online, but nothing else really happens until either you get a RFE (hopefully not) or a notification of approval (also known as the NOA2). You will also get (if you have not yet) a paper notice in the mail within a few days.

Occasionally, as you check status online (which as I said, will not really change), you might see your petition 'touched' (a date changed in the status), this means many different things and usually is not an indication of imminent approval.

The good side of this is that your petition is in process and is now just a time to have patience and make the est out of it.

When we did this and knowing the duration this would take (we were also in Vermont), we started making some plans of meeting 3-4 months after we received the first notification, figuring we would be about half way in the process.
