I know this has been the most asked question on the forum. I am going to ask one more time in a different manner. If we are applying on the basis of 5 year residency ( not based on the 3 year marriage ) do we have to take the certified tax transcripts for the interview? How many of you were asked to show them at the interview? Again I am asking for the 5 year residency based application. Not based on the 3 year marriage based application.

You do not have to but it is advised to have the tax return transicpts with you in case it is being asked by the interviewing officer. I had mine with me just in case. The officer did not ask for them and was satisfied when I answered his question "Have you been always paying your taxes?" with a yes.

Take the tax return transcripts with you. It never hurts to have too much documentation.

ditto, I had my 5 years of tax returns as well to the interview, just in case. the officer didn't ask for them, but if she did, I had them. It doesn't hurt to take them.

I am newby, hy All :) Now I am about to file my N400, I have two things which confused me... is the IRS transcript...OR it is the Certified Transcript..because there are 2 kinds, if we asked for certified copies from IRS, they asks 55 Dollars for each of certified copy, while transcript ONLY they will send it for free. So which one that is the one USCIS needs from us ?

How do you actually obtain 5 years of transcripts from the IRS? The IRS form for getting transcripts says explicitly that it only has access to the current year and 3 years prior for a total of 4 years. Anyone have insight to how to get that 5th year of transcripts?

I went to their website and i need to file Form 4506 with the IRS, and each CERTIFIED copy cost 55 USD. If we ask for Certified Copy..NOT the transcript, IRS does provide it for up to 7 years . I think this is about right, I just not too pleased to have to spend more $$$$$$$

Thats why I asked earlier, if Transcript Only will be acceptable for those who apply for Naturalizations with 5 years case.

I think the best bet would be have the transcript for the past 3 years IRS provided and for the other 2 years I am going to get the certified copy of it... I dont know if its a good idea ? but it does make sense.

Any Opinion ? Or Suggestion are welcome.. thanks :)

Get the three free transcripts mailed to you, and take those with you to the interview, just in case.
