Chennai to Mumbai transfer status

Hello,

I received a notice from the NVC on Nov 18th, 2011 stating that the approved K-1 petition has been sent to the Chennai consulate and that she would be receiving a packet with further instructions. It has been over two months and she has yet to receive the packet in the mail. I emailed the Chennai consulate and they informed me that Immigrant Visa applications, including K visas, are being transferred to the Mumbai consulate since Jan 1st 2012. I then emailed Mumbai VFS for more information and here was the response:

"As per the U.S Consulate, they have noted your request for an appointment for the beneficiary. Please note that they will be scheduled in forthcoming months based on the availability. Please also be assured that they will contact the applicants once the scheduling is done. "

Pretty generic. Its already been two months and we still don't have a clear idea of where our application is in the queue. Is there anyone else waiting on a Chennai - Mumbai transfer case? Have you had any luck getting the status of your application?

Thanks

Did you got a case number form NVC? if so,

you can call the DOS

This is where you will be able to find out if your case was received at the Embassy/Consulate. They will not see your case in their system until the NVC has logged it in and applied a case number to it.

Moving from K-1 to Regional as this is a regional embassy issue not a K-1 process question.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will call the DOS instead of NVC to check on the status and see if there's any more info.
