Got a GC, but my passport will expire this year do i need to renew it before taking a 3 week vacation?

I am planning to spend a three weeks vacation with my daughter in the Philippines on Sept. or Oct. 2012.

I have GC and my baby is a US citizen but i am worried about my Phil. Passport that will expire on Nov.2012

my question is do i need to renew my passport before going back to the Philippines? or i don't need to?

My husband told my my GC is enough for me to travel anywhere. i'm just worried.

GC will allow you entry back into the USA but you will need a valid passport for travel as well, as long as you return before it expires I don't see the issue. For peace of mind I would get it renewed.

i am planning to renew my phil. passport when i go back to phil. but kindda risky eh.

and they told me all i can do is to fly to california to renew my phil. passport which is far and expensive

coz they say you really need to appear personally..this is giving me a headache! lolz!

my husband is the one who wants me to visit my family back home it's close to 3 years now since i last seen them.

i hope it's easy as going there for 3 weeks in Oct. and back before nov. and no problem.

The Bureau of Immigration strongly recommend and requires Filipinos(though a PR here you still hold a Phil passport) traveling to have a passport that is valid for at least 6months.You might not have a problem returning here since they just usually check your GC . Renew it as not to encounter any problems at the airport. Better be safe than sorry.

That is what i am thinking too.. having a problem at the airport for sure in the Phils.

i think i need to talk to my husband about renewing my passport first before travelling.

but california is too far from our place and i dont know anybody there

will gonna file for lifting of condition on April..

my husband said its ridiculous to renew phil. passport which

will be no use when i come back here in the US

and after few years will apply for the US citizenship.

for sure we will come back in the US before my phil passport expire on

Nov. the thing is.. i need to bring extra money incase i encounter problem

at NAIA..

The 6 month requirement by immigrations has nothing to do with you traveling now. As long as it is valid its good for travel.

Re-newing your passport while in the Phils sounds like a good idea and a lot simpler than trying to do it here..

Be sure to check with the DFA if you'd be able to get an appointment to renew your passport while you are in the Philippines and that you'd be able to get your passport back in time for your return flight to the U.S.:

Also, I noticed your signature says that you will be filing the I-751 in April of this year? Make sure that you bring the original NOA with you when you leave for the Philippines because this will prove that your GC validity has been extended while your I-751 petition is pending.

you should be able to renew your passport at the philippine consulate in the united states,new york city, washington DC.or in your area,your still a philippine citizen, they should be able to help you.good luck

She is trying to avoid doing it here as its requires a lenghty travel to get to the Philippine embassy in here area.
