We have finally received our interview appointment (end of February) for my AOS. We are very excited and hope it all goes well. We think we have plenty of evidence of our relationship (photos, joint bank accounts, several house leases on our names, several email conversations, affidavit from a family member, utilities on both our names). However, we don't have wedding photos because we decided to postpone the celebratory events until I can finally leave the US, have a wedding celebration in my home country and come back without any problems (yes, we applied for AOS here in the US). I was wondering if they would look at that with suspicion and think that the intention was just to get the green card. So, my question is, can they ask where our wedding photos are and what would be the best thing to say in a way that doesn't trigger any suspicion? My most honest answer would be that our plan was to have our wedding celebration in Italy (where I'm from and where my family lives) and that we were waiting for the moment until I could leave the US and come back without any problem. Any thoughts?

They can definitely ask and probably will. Just tell the truth. Do you not have any photos from your court house wedding at all?

We didn't get married in a court house...we were married by a county clerk...so it was a very simple procedure.

Hi I have my AOS Interview on Feb 2nd. We also exchnaged our vows in front of the county clerk and two friends were present. We did take a few pics. at that time and sent the same with my AOS package as well. If they approved the I 485 without your pics. then i don't see that as an issue :).

Good point! We didn't have anyone during our wedding...and didn't even think to take any photos. We will give our honest response in case they ask and provide them with plenty of other evidence.

Even so - did you have any pictures taken of your civil marriage? If not, be prepared to answe questions as to why. But even so, it appears you have other evidence and an explanation so don't stress too much!

No unfortunately we didn't take any pictures...at the moment we didn't even think about it and now we're like, why didn't we?? We really have plenty of other evidence considering we've been together for five years and living together for about 4 years...so I hope it all goes smoothly!

Just explain your reasons. It will actually probably work in your favor - the fact that you want a big ceremony in your home country. I think the most convincing thing from the interviewers perspective in our interview was when my husband explained his reasons for moving back to his country from China where we were living at the time he did so, and I said, "You never put it to me like that." It was such a real moment and the sort of thing a wife might say to a husband. I think they have already looked at your evidence and made a basic decision before the interview, and are just trying to get a feel for you in the interview itself.

We brought a photobook with us, but we almost had to thrust it on her at the end of the interview. She really wasn't that interested in it. She did ask if we had brought our daughter but I'm sure that is because the photos we had sent with the evidence revealed that she was a superstar and she was looking forward to meeting her in person.

I forgot to add that we had no ceremony and no photographs of the civil service. Actually, we had almost no photographs of the two of us together, but we did have photos of him with my family. Our evidence judged by a lot of people on this forum would have been woefully insufficient, but we had NO trouble.

Thanks! This really feels reassuring! We are very excited to be reaching the end of this process. The waiting time has been hard to go through but we do feel we are almost there! Thanks again.
