Hello everyone greetings to all of u

i happen to have stumbled on this website when my fiance suggested we filed for a K1 visa.i live in ghana and we have a small bussiness together.am 24 soon to be 25 this year and hes 34 soon to be 35,even tho he looks like hes 27 lol.we met through my classmate who lives with him in the states .this was around january but we hadnt met personally cos it was on phone, i must say i had just come out from a very bad relationship which left me very heartbroken, and so i wanted nothing to do with men.i totally closed the love chapter in my life, until my friend called out of the blue saying she heard i broke up and she had the best man for me .i smiled and said here we go again,am not interested. She said wait till u meet him hes just like u caring humble and kind.so my craz friend gives him my number and we start talking.I was amazed to find out that he would call me every single day.i realised i had fallen head over heals inlove with him without even setting eyes on him,.I accepted his proposal in february by then we new alot about each other,he spoke to my mum and family and we grew from strenght to strenght.then he came to see me in ghana in august!.I must say it was the most memorable day of my life, when i met him in person i realised what a kind heart he had he was God fearing and honest i knew then that this was my Soulmate.Enough walabaloo.

I believe in Ghana and i believe in the possibilities here,i am not a fun of the united states because i think they are a waiting timebomb.ive begged my fiance to come and live here with me but he is clueless where to start. We talked things over and hes convinced me to join him in the united states.we got engaged in december 14th .now we want to file for the fiancee visa.all i want to know is where to start i get to d all the research cos he works like hell all time anytime,i feel bad for him cos i worry about his eating, and studies and realised that i could be of greater help to him in the states than here in ghana.he doesnt send me funds because we have a small bussiness together here in gh which brings in the income.we skype most of the time and hardly email each other ,however we also chat on yahoo sometimes but its all skype skype skype and more skype But he calls my cellphone most times aswell. hes been to ghana twice since we met 1st to see me and the second to get engaged, hes coming home again soon tho.I really need help on how he can file for me cos because he doesnt have time to do all the research .can someone here help me out with the answers i seek.hes employed and meets all the employment requirements.please brief us on how to start and when to start i am hoping to get an approval by september 2012 because thats when he starts schooling,i need to be there to help him out.thanks to u all and stay blessed

I would start here:

K1 Visa Guide

This is the complete guide for a K1 Visa and it helped me out a lot when I filed a few weeks ago! You basically need to start by having your fiance to file an I-129F and gathering the documents for it, and the guide explains how it is done. Your fiance will have to gather some of the information himself, as he is the one who sends off the initial documents.

K1 Visa Timeline

01/13/2012 I-129F sent via USPS

01/16/2012 I-129F delivered

As long as they are legally divorced and can prove the documents stating this, you'll be fine. Is the ex wife a US citizen? I think the only way they would give you a harder time at the interview is if he also brought her to the US through a K1, but even then, it's possible to fall in love with two people overseas. The processing time varies, but I filed last week and the website currently states that it's 5 months. However, after that, there is some waiting for your paperwork to be sent to the US embassy in Ghana and then a wait for the interview. I would be hopeful that it gets approved by September, but with the USCIS, you never know.

first off congrats, the k1 process is a really smooth process if u have all the paper work in order and you don't leave any spaces on the application blank so make sure u recheck everything. Also every form in the application requires the original signatures.

Knope2012 sent u a link on the k1 process read it, read it, and read it to make sure you and the petitioner qualifies for the K1. make sure u have boarding passes, pictures to prove he was there within the last 2 years

here are the example forms and cover letters showing u how everything should be arranged in the k1 packet(remember u need to send in 2 letters of intent from each of u):

http://www.visajourney.com/content/examples

last, at the end of each month it's a good ideal to start cataloging all the skype log, emails, call logs, and snail mail(send each other from time to time it helps) and it's a real time saver to have everything prepared already for the interview.

september is plenty of time and if u follow the example forms and don't leave any spaces blank on the k1 application u should be fine. also, make sure on the form to put n/a and none in the appropriate spaces because sometime they will send u a rfe it for a minor error like the one listed

good luck

Head over to the Sub-Saharan Africa forum for more Ghana specific questions ( http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/89-africa-sub-saharan/ )

Accra seems to have its ups and downs when it comes to the interview so knowing what you are up against now can help a lot in filing your petition.
