Hi everyone, I just received my biometrics notice in the mail today for my second I-90 application. My appointment is for Monday March 5th at 12 pm. My question is, can I go to do my biometrics before my appointment date or do I have to go on the date/time specify in the letter. Thanks for any advice you may have.

If you have to renew your temp green card within a year I suggest you renew it 6mths before it expires to avoid any delays. I learn a very expensive lesson. Today USCIS sent me a confirmation email that my application has been received and routed to the NSC for processing and within 7-10 days I will receive my official receipt Notice with my receipt number. I wish they would notify me by email like they do now everytime my case is being "touch". Had they sent me an email informing me that my biometrics letter was sent out I would probably not be in this sitation like I am now. The check for $450 was also cashed today. I hope i'm on the right path this time without any incidents.

You cannot send an application to renew your card until 3 months before the card expires. You get a letter extending your green card for one year when you do. If you send it in early, they will reject it and send it back.

To the OPhave you changed your address at any time?

To OTHERS ...DO NOT rely on email notifications, they are not reliable. When you are in a process such as this or any other USCIS process the US MAIL is the ONLY official notification you will receive. Make sure you check all your mail. If anyone moves, fill out and send a form AR-11 right away and be aware it takes 4-5 MONTHS for that address change to be updated.

I suspect you either moved OR the letter was misdirected by the Post Office. If this is the case it is NOT USCIS's fault and they do not make exceptions, imagine the fiasco if they did.

I also suggest that you DO NOT carry your green card with you. I know what the law says. So what? They aren't paying the fee to replace a lost card. Make a COLOR copy of your green card, put the original in a safe place and leave it there unless you are traveling outside the US or need to present it for employment. For all other purposes a COPY is fine. Laminate it and put it in your wallet

Depends on the service center you use. Usually yes. We did. If the service center is nearby then just make an infopass appointment and go there with your biometrics letter. If it is a long drive I would suggest not risking it unless someone else can tell you if that service center does it.

If you must do this, then color-copy both sides of the card and ENLARGE it (>100% size). This is so that you'll run less of a chance of being charged with unauthorized duplication of an official document.

Also, better hope that you don't run into CBP or ICE, even by chance.
