There's a big difference between teaching kids "this is what happened in the past" and "this is what you can blame all your problems on in the future."

If we teach kids there was slavery throughout the forming of our country, a big war to end it, discrimination all the way up to modern times but now everything is OK, then what are we really saying to them? "Hey kids, even though we screwed over the rest of these people, you're going to be fine."

If there was no mention of slavery in our text books, the discrimination after, then there'd be no reason for the kids to wonder why they're f'd from birth now. It would, in effect, cancel out the argument that they could be failures simply because of all the bad things that happened to people a long time ago.

All of this falls into historical context and I think it can be demonstrated that this nation has been on the forefront of many positive developments throughout its existence. What would be wrong with that? Too much truth?

Teacher: Joey tell your mom owning slaves then was a common around the world as owning a dog or a horse is today so of course they owned slaves, but there was little the Founders could do to stop it if they wanted too.... as each state was (and should be) independent. What they did do though was put an end to the importation of slaves into the country ...as that was a federal issue.

Those subjects have whole areas devoted and they will be covered but these history lessons are starting to look like the Smithsonian institute.

At every station of history in the place there exists a separate area on that subject pertaining to black history. Dosen't matter if its aviation, WW2, The Cowboy-west, Big band swing, manufacturing, The Great depression.
